Keep blowing headlights

Keep blowing headlights

I'm on my 4th set of headlights in the past 6 months.. blew out one sylvania, one nokya, and then 2 nokyas blew out on me within minutes of each other. What could be wrong?

don't touch the bulbs; it shortens the bulbs life from the oil on your hands.

if you happen to touch it, clean the bulbs with alcohol (i forget which type)

Yeah, I know to never touch the bulb w/my hands. Looks like the problem is getting worse or has changed. Tonight I (well, my dad, not me, since the car isn't here), put in another set of headlights after the old ones blew out again and he says it wouldn't even turn on anymore. I guess there's an electrical problem of some sort ... and he won't touch it if that's the case. Grr..

I think nokyas are high wattage (80-100) If so, you fried your headlight harness. Get an aftermarket 9004 harness from e-bay or something. THey aren't too hard to install, I have seen write-ups on here how to install.

No bulbs you put in the existing harness are going to work very long.

Either up the amps on the fuse for the headlights or there is a seriour short.

Check the spelling under your pic. Oh and lose the crappy aftermarket fogs. You got too many lights...

I am pretty sure that it is moisture in your housing causing your bulbs to blow.

Your running 80/100 Watt bulbs and you've probably damaged the socket. Take a good look at the contacts in the socket, there probably all burned from to much current draw. The burnt connections aren't letting current flow anymore.

If there not completely melted, you can clean them up with WD-40 and a thin nail file. The treat them with dielectric grease so it doesn't happen again.

Check out the sockets. I had the same problem and found that the bulbs were actually melting the socket. If they are melting it is a $3 fix. I havent had the problem since.

check your battery voltage while the car is running...your voltage regulator in the alternator could be bad and letting the voltage get too high....voltage should be 13.8-14.4 ish
