this is getting to me

A couple of days ago I decided to change my fuel filter. Bad idea. After a few attempts to unscrew the screw and pull the hose I was about to rip it all off an take the car out of service; not a good thing to do considering where i live. So off to the mechanic i went the next day. While at it I saw my alternator belt was shredding and I needed an oil change anyway. Shortly after it was all changed and I happily drove away.

Till i decided to go to the car wash. I think i am cursed with a low idle syndrome. After almost stalling i figured something was wrong (o2 sensor perhaps) and took it back to the shop the next day. I tell him the rpm drops dead down, i loose steering and engine is about to cut (not to mention the vibration) and i am given a lecture on how all autos when in gear do that. Whatever. He ****ed me off. So i went shopping for some heavy duty tools and spent the rest of the day removing the throttle body and thoroughly cleaning it (i had it cleaned 3 days ago). Every nook that i could see. Bolting that thing back on was just as fun as removing it :sarcasm:. Funny thing is it happens only when the AC is on. To compensate my car now idles at 1100rpm whith the ac off. And drops down to 650-700 when in gear with the ac on. Turning the wheel hits it another 100. Though its nothing like the freaky 200-300 rpm i had the day before. for reference it actually feels perfect at 1100rpm.

I am out of options as to what to do next time (if) it drops.

I still have the old broken engine so i might start swapping parts back and fort till i track it if it comes back.

If I am not mistaken, that is about the range of the idle. Anyone with a FSM or Haynes manual, can you check what the idle ranges are?
(My manual is at home, at work now).

If my tacho reads correct, mine idles around the same in gear with/without the A/C. Perhaps a little hiccup when the A/C compressor kicks in a split second before the idle up auto-adjustment occurs. No vibration for me.

Your IACV is not functioning. It may be working "electrocally" which is why your not getting a CEL, but it's not doing what it's supposed to do, CONTROL YOUR IDLE SPEED.

Take that device apart and clean it up again. Make sure everything inside can move freely. If your idle still doesn't stay stable when your A/C or steering wheel is moved, replace the IACV.
