Well last week I had my new tires put on the Yokohoma ES100's. Previously on the car I had the Toyo FZ4 (think thats the model) those tires were ok. I give a good thumbs up to the ES100's they have great dry weather traction for me. The traction provided is much greater than the Toyo's so I'm trying to teach myself not to get into the gas to quickly or I get wheel hop, whereas before the tires would just spin with the TOYO's. Turn in is great, the sidewalls arent super firm or soft either its the perfect combo for ride quality and performance. The noise there is virtually no more noise than a set of all season tires. Even though these tires are W rated they are extrememly quiet. Wet weather traction is also good.
The only thing u must look out for is these tires dont squel when they are breaking loose, they just slide so its harder to tell when you are pushing the limits. I'm running 225/55/16 with these on my 99 SE. I highly recommend them for the price. However they are a newer tire and most companies have very limited stock.

I have 225/50-16 set up on my '99 SE. They are great tires. Huge difference from the OEM Toyo's. I got mine from the Tire Rack back in September for around $70.00 a tire, came with a radio controlled car too.

How about posting a picture of your tires. Am in the market and am considering the Dunlop Sport A2's or the Yoko ES 100s. At least I've gotten the choice down to these two. NOW got to decide which size. Have a 97 SE 5spd with the standard al wheels. Believe that the tire size (OEM) is 215/55 16 but am thinking about going to 225/50 16s on the stock rims. Know from reading previous posts that this size will fit but would like to see what they look like. Also responses from those who have this size on their stock rims. Too fat? Show too much open air in the wheel wells? How do they handle in this size? Any help would be appreciated.

Well I went with the 225/55/16 because its fills the wheel well up more, also the 50 series people complain sometimes about the wheel bulging to much on the side and causing a weaker sidewall.

I did the same thing for the same reasons with a 225/55-16. Looks great and fills up the wells just a bit more. The 225/50-16 will increase the gap. Looks real good with the Eibach drop.

yup. yup. i also went with 225/55/16 (on stock SE rims). the tire is relatively inexpensive, and has good performance for a "enthusiastic" driver (i dont race).

as with all tires, i think the road noise gets louder as the tire wears out. i have about 15k on them, and i think they are a little louder than when they were new.

i guess they are definitely not a cold weather tire, as one morning, as i made the left turn to get on the hi-way, the back swung out wide, and i had to correct for it. it coulda been because of the damp road (not sure if it were icy because we had a freeze the night before), and cold tires (less than 2 miles from house).

so for those of you with 225/55/16, what tire pressure are you using?
