Top 100 Most Commonly Stolen Vehicles in 2002...we are 24!

I was just looking around and stubled across this site. http://www.nicb.org/services/top_sto...0vehicles.html
Turns out we are #24. Camery is #1. Who would want to steal a Camery over a Maxima.

Peace - Chad

who would take
4.Oldsmobile Cutlass/Supreme/Ciera
8.Ford Taurus
11.Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan
18.Oldsmobile Delta 88/Royale
19.Buick Le Sabre
20.Ford Escort

over the maxima?

the only answer i could come up with is the owners put really good alarms on their max's, leading them to become unstealable.

Sure, a Camry is a hell of a lot better than a Max....not !!! Really...most car thieves steal a car so it can be broken down into parts and since there are a lot more Camrys on the road, ergo, there are more stolen. A lot of Honda's, especially Civic Si's and Integras are stolen for their engines, which command a premium these days.

Stolen Maxima

I wish they would announce the specific year maxima stolen the most. I have a '99 and someone tried to steal it. they broke the passenger window, got in, and tried to srewdriver the ingintion. Little did they know that you need to have the chip in order to start the ignition, my car wasn't going anywhere, so they gave up. I can't imagine many maximas with the chip in the keys got stolen. But who knows, they won't break down the years on the report.

ahhhhh. I had a wierd dream last night. Someone stole my car when i went in to a restaraunt. I came out and there was an ugly 95 max w/ altezzas, cloth, pinstripes, am/fm tape stereo(no cd player), automatic and honeycomb rims. i woke up right away to look outside and see my baby(97 w/leather, 5 spd, tinted windows, 5 star rims, cd player, sunroof, spoiler, wind-deflector, so on and so on.

Did that year have the chip in the key? What method did they use to steal it?

Maximamoose; I go to a shi-ty community college, I think I have probably the nicest car there which sucks because I don't want anyone to f-ck with it. I have had the same dream only mine was stolen at school. It sucked until I woke up and looked outside and smiled.

Re: Re: stolen '97

What also needs to be taken into consideration with this information is what is the most sold car in America? the camry and the accord, therefore having so many more of those cars on the road than anything else it gets stolen more often...

on another note... there are some ****ty cars being stolen... hahah

Re: Stolen Maxima

more than likely to be a 97-98 maxima. they did not have the chip in the key(99+), nor did they have the factory alarm system that disabled the starter/ignition when you opened a door (hood/trunk) without the key/keyfob(89-96).

actually, even though they 97's dont have a chip in the key...the factory alarm does have a kill switch in it, according to the dealership

Camry is #1 because alot of the parts that can be chopped off of it relate to alot of differnt years so when they do try to sell them, theres more of a market..same goes for the honda's
