I would have to say that you don't have B&G springs for the Maxima. Maybe they are for a Miata and they put them in the wrong box?

Sorry, but those are definately not a 1.6 in drop. Where did you buy them from, and what color were they?

So it sounds likely that they are the right springs.....

so what else could cause a car's suspension to sag like that?

Well, those are B&G springs, but I think they are too short? My spring were layed out side by side long ways with wrap around them with the rear spring inside the front springs. I don't think they would have fit in the box the way yours came?

I never tried to put them in that way, and maybe it is just late and I am losing it?

That is how my springs came as well. The front springs will not fit in the box if they were layed out vertically in the box...I just checked.

B&G totally messed up my order the first time. They sent me springs in a box that said Maxima but the springs were for 4 different cars. If I remember correctly, it should say 76140 on the front springs and 76141 on the rear springs. Correct me if I am wrong becasue it has been a couple of weeks since I saw those numbers. Hope this helps.

There is no way to zip-tie the spring to the perch with this kind of setup. I've never installed GC, so perhaps their setup is different. I've installed and re-installed lots of 4g maxima suspensions. IMO, either these are the wrong springs or the correct springs were installed incorrectly (writing can be put on the wrong way-the direction is indicated by the progress of the spring coil).

If two people have had a problem with orders, perhaps this means the whole world has problems. Chances are, people ran into the distributor's dumbest shipping guy.

We were extremely careful to install them with the coil rate going the right way, disregarding the direction of the writing - it just so happened the writing all went up.....

beside the fact that the diameter of the coils in the front didn't fit in the rubber boot perfectly, they seemed to install fine.

We tried putting the fronts on the other wy, and it was painfully obvious it was the wrong way, because it would not sit correclty.

30163 is the part number printed on the spring.

Anyone who has the proper springs, what is the number on the spring? Is it 76140 & 76141?

Can someone look to verify this?

Thanks!

Those idiots at B&G never quit! They gave you the wrong springs. The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Those numbers are correct becasue I double checked with B&G today and they confirmed it. That sucks.

Did that happen with shox.com? If so, what was your experience rectifying the situation?

They were a little scratched on install, and i expect them to give me ****.

Actually, I just looked on B&G's website, and the right springs are part # 62-01-020....

It doesn't say that on the springs anywhere, only 30163 on the spring itself, and also, in addition to 62-01-020 on the box, it says "76140 & 76141"

Well, I just spoke to 96shogunmax, who has a set of B&G's sitting on his floor.

Yup - the numbers on the ones he has say "76140 & 76141"

Mine say "30163"

Problem is the springs got a little scratched on install - I hope they don't give me any **** at shox.com!!!

Anyone here ever return something to shox.com? What was your experience?

Putting the stock springs back on Saturday, and not driving until then.

Thank god I take the bus to work!

Anyway, please answer my questions if you can.

If shox.com gives you ANY problem at all send me a pm and I will take care of it. Hell, they should give you a discount considering they sent the wrong freakin springs and had you install them to find it out. That is just pathetic on the part of shox.com.

Call them up, tell them they sucks ***, tell them you want the correct springs sent ASAP and that you want a return shipping slip sent to you at their expense! Plus make sure you got the maxima.org "I just got screwed" discount!!!!!

B&G's are excellent springs when you get the right set, sorry for your miss hap, and good luck!

I just went to look at my box, and the sticker that is on it says Nissan Maxima 1.6 95-99 76140 76141...

HOWEVER, there is a sticker under that which says AUDI Quatro 1.4!!!! No wonder half of us have to put our spring on upside down!

Actually, I think I have the correct springs, but just goes to show how many relabeling problems shox.com has>>>> (I hope I have the right springs ) lol

Check the part number on the spring itself, make sure it matches the 76140 and 76141

Question???

Ok, too dark, and I think I will have to take my wheel off to see the actual numbers on the springs.

But..... For the springs on the rear of the car, should the tight coils that sit on top of each other be on the top or the bottom?

coil

coil

coil
coil
coil

or

coil
coil
coil

coil

coil

Did that make since??

Well, I talked to shox.com this morning....

He asked me to call B&G directly to find out what the problem is, but they don't open until 9:00am PST, so I'm waiting....

However, he was very clear that if they won't help me, he (mark at shox.com) will. He just wants me to try going through them first.

So it sounds like this is going to work well, I'm hoping - kudos to shox.com for being attentive to my problem.

Final Update:

I spoke with B&G this morning (1-858-935-0100, located in San Diego)
Spoke with the sales guy Mike - he was very understanding of the problem, and after a few expletives aimed at their shipping guy, offered to send me a UPS Shipping tag Monday morning to have them picked up.

I called mark at shox.com again and told him what was going on - he said that wasn't good enough, and arranged to have the new springs shipped to me OVERNIGHT, for FREE!

So shox.com really came through here. I give them a 100% recommendation on this one. Turns out it was completely B&G's fault.

Also, I asked about the "Mirage" label on the box - simply, they are re-using their boxes because they are running low - it has no bearing on what's in the box. In actuality, the springs I have (PN#30163) are for a FORD FOCUS!!!!

Anyway, shox.com really took care of me, and B&G wasn't bad either....thank god, problem solved....

so basically SHOX.COM has issues. I don't see why you guys pin this stuff on B&G.

Danny, I would say probably about 6 times on the 4g. I help out a local shop occasionally.

Also, regardless of writing, you should be able to tell how a spring should be mounted by the progressive spring rate.

NO, B&G packed them wrong - shox.com doesn't look in every box to check to make sure B&G got them right - they shouldn't have to.

So it's absolutely B&G's fault - Although, Mike at B&G was very williing to work with me, so I have nothing against them either.

But it was shox.com that forced B&G to ship new springs overnight to me - so I give them the best customer service.

Scale of 1-10, I give the following:
shox.com an 8
B&G a 6
B&G's shipping dept. a 2....

The same exact thing happened to me with B&G. Shox.com is not the responsible party in this situation. I think that B&G's shipping department is run by:
1.Drunks
2.Crackheads
3.Chimps

What's your vote?

Oh my GOD it handles SO much better - dips, bumps, curves - I hit a 25mph curve with 3 guys in the car and a trunk full of tools at 50 and didn't even squeal - I've hit that before and always squeal at 45...these springs are stiffer than the Sprints, but ride nicer - not sure why.

Before with Ford Focus Springs:
