Knock Sensor Resistance Reading

Yes, I'm afraid I have an additional question about the much discussed and infamous 0304 ECU error. I would like to test the resistance on my knock sensor before replacing it, this may help me decide whether to replace the oxygen sensors as well. Since I have no experience in using a resistance tester I was hoping somebody would be able to tell me.

1) What exact device I should be buying, and an estimate of how much I should pay for it.

2) Instructions on how to properly test the knock sensor.

I appreciate your time.

1) You should buy a digital multimeter for testing electronic circuits. Dont ever buy an analog tester, there are many reasons why not to use an analog one; if you want I can go into the details.
Radio Shack sells a digital multimeter mini tester for like 10 bucks. With it you can test AC and DC voltage, resistance, and circuit continuity. I have yet to use this multimeter on the knock sensor, but it should work; if not your gonna need a better multimeter than can read the high resistance of the knock sensor.

2) (taken from Haynes repair manual #72021)

Disconnect the knock sensor harness connector (see illustration). Using an Ohm-meter, check for continuity between the two terminals of the knock sensor connector. Continuity should be indicated. If an open circuit is indicated, replace the knock sensor. NOTE: The knock sensor resistance is very high, use an ohmmeter cable of measuring at least 10 Megaohms.

I hope this helps.
