stillen lip installed/painted

I have a few questions for all of you with a Stillen front lip, that live in North Jersey....where did you get it installed/painted...and whats a rough estimate on prices? I am debating if I should put mine on, or sell it. I would really like to put it on, but I have a 1.5 inch drop with Eibach springs, and I dont want to be touching the ground. Does anybody have your Max lowered with the lip? Do you suffer from any damage, especially with the bad roads in NJ? If anything, I would like to put it on unpainted for a little while to see if I have any problems...if I do, Im gonna sell it. FYI, if I do sell it, it will be local only. Thanks for your looking

Lance,
On my 99 max I had my front lip painted and installed for about $200 in Long Island. It was fine for a while with the occasional scrapes here and there underneath which you can't see anyway. Then I got my eibach springs. It went all downhill from there. It would scrape everywhere I went. Going up and down the driveway, dips in the road, etc. The place where I got it painted from repainted the lip for free. Less then a week later I accidently hit the front lip with the concrete slab that are at the parking lots. After that I was like f*** it. Recently somehow the drive side of the lip cracked so I ended up taking it off. It looked really good with the lip, but it was more hassel than I bargained for.

I had the stillen lip w/ a 2" drop w/ my sprints. I rarely scraped, w/ the exception of some speed bumper and driveways. You just have to be careful and go at angles. Definitely get it painted and put on the car. If you do scrape, it's just going to be on the underside where no one can see.

I have a Stillen kit (unpainted) installed on my max, with sprint springs. I hardly scrape at all, only in steep driveways.

I second all these 3 guys. I have maxspeeds, but 1 coil cut on all of them. Sprints will be going on this weekend. I have scraped only once going down a hill to a flat road. steep and I barely scraped. Just like they said you cant tell it scraped the bottom of the lip. Dont worry just get it, you will be happy.

I live in North Jersey and I have H&R springs with the stillen kit.. The lip rarely ever scrapes.. You need to pull in everywhere on an angle. Even when it does scrape its underneath so you can't see it.. Put it on, changes the whole look of the car.. People didn't even know I had my car lowered until I did.. If you decide on the whole kit the sides and the back will never scrape unless you are pulling into somewhere where it would scrape normally without the kit.. The lip is very durable so I say go for it.. If you need a place there is Lucimer autobody in Newark, great service.

youre damn right. i never have problems scraping. even if the ground dips in and back out like a V, i used to be scared of those but now im pretty sure if you drive it right youll save from scraping 90-95% of the time. ::knock on urethane::

hmmm that really sounds tempting....I wonder how much just to install without the painting. I will call and find out. I dont want to paint it just yet because I want to see if I can at least make it into my driveway with it (I live on a hill) if nothing else. If I have to get rid of it, I dont want to sink the money into painting it just to turn around and sell it. Plus, in case someone wants it that doesnt have a black Max, they dont have to paint it again....It does sound like a great deal tho...thanks
