Frankencar Intake vs. Cold Air

I know I will probly have to search, I already tried, but I wanted to see IF there were some people who prefered the performance of the cold air, compared to the frankencar intake. Help Please!!

ive never had a cold air. maybe some day ill try it. but i love the power the shorter intakes give when revved higher along with exhaust modifications. and the hissing from the midpipe is sweet. but hopefully one day my wont even be on the right side

some people (and i agree with them) think that the design of the CAI for our cars is simply too long and it hurts topend. personally i couldn't trap better than 91mph at the track with it on but with the short ram ive trapped almost 94mph.

if you are willing to shell out 200+ for a CAI, just get the frankencar with the apexi filter

Thanks for the replys. You just made my mind up and Im going to with the Frankencar intake. I did do a search and alot of people said that the CAI hurts top end. So I guess I will order up a Frankercar and slap the apexi filter on it. I just ordered a Test pipe(warpspeed 2.5") I cant wait to add some more power. I get a huge kick just from taking out the filter, and hearing it rat out!!

Im one of the believers of the top end theory so good choice. However, if you ever feel the need of trying CAI, I have my Lower PlaceRacing CAI tube if you want to buy that.

If you got a CAI, wouldn't you also have to cut a whole out to get the tube and the filter down by the tire and fender???

yes you have to cut a 3.25" hole in the metal.

hm, that sux, considering that, and the fact that the CAI hurts top-end (whatever that is ) I'll probably also get the Frankencar.

"Top-End" means that the intake doesnet give good power in the higher rpms toward redline. I see a power band for my max is shifting at around 6300 or so.

GO HYBRID

Make a midpipe that is short enough so that the filter sits above the lower half of the stock air box. This will feed it some cold air. I bypassed my resinator located under the battery and connected a pipe that leads under the car to it. This along with the stock snorkel feeds my JWT filter/velocity stack good outside air, and by observing how hot the intake manifold is getting it does work.

Here is how to make a midpipe
http://www.drwebdesign.com/mymaxima/upperintake.html

Here is how to attach the filter to it
http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=35

The choices for intakes as far as Maximas and their type:

-Franken, Popcharger
Short piping + no outside air = short ram intake

-Place Racing, Warpspeed
Long piping + outside air = CAI

-Injen
Long Piping + no outside air = long ram intake?

-Do it yourself
Short piping + outside air = hybrid intake
