'98 SE - thinking of buying... what to look for

Well the car Im looking at is a '98 SE rosewood in color, auto, with 120000km or 75000miles on it. The price the dealer is asking is 13000$ CDN or 8500$ USD. What I need to know what I should look for when I go for a drive 2morrow and also is this a good price for the car ? What are some major things that will neesd to be looked at soon down the road ? Any input is welcomed... thanx

75,000 miles.. That is the magic number. Unless the owner or the dealer had performed all the necessary maintenance, you have to do them as soon as you get the car. My 98 has been very reliable and not a single thing broke, but at 75k miles, you need to figure the following into the cost of the vehicle.

The front brakes probably need replacement very soon
Its time for a radiator flush
transmission fluid flush
spark plug (tune up)
need to replace belts (but I didnt replace mine until 120k !)
Unless the owner drove the car really hard, shocks should be ok. When I had my car, since I was in school, I carried around average of 5.5 people in my car and I drove like a maniac, and my shocks went out in like 30k miles.

These are the major things I would loo out for. If you have more questions, post here or email me.
