Tantrums

I like the Tantrums. I have Monsoons (check my homepage)and I love the overall value from Konig. Stick with the five-star format on the Maxima and you won't go wrong. Everybody likes that format it seems, and you won't have a problem if you want to re-sell it someday. Only I would deffinately spend a little more and step up to 18's. The look and feel bending corners in 18's is worth every penny. Knowing I can outcorner most BMWs(except the M series) makes me confident in sharp curves. Good luck, whatever you get post a pic. peace,

weird....i don't know why all the crap i typed isn't there...so i'll type again. (i guess the server messed up as it was loading)

anyways, do you guys think i should go with 17x7 konig tantrums? i'm getting them with tires for a very good deal from a member here but wanted to just ask around before i completely go through it and spend my $$. i would like to go bigger, but it's not possible for a long time cuz i don't have the money now that i'm back in school without a job. are there gonna be any problems with the size or will they go on fine to my 95? i did search and read a few threads but there were mixed reviews, some complain and some said they still had them. so, i figured i would ask to see what everyone has to say.

side note and additional question: i also can buy 01 se's really cheap but am not sure how much the tires would cost + mounting, balancing, etc. does anyone have an estimate of how much that stuff together would cost because i'm really on a strict budget but an sick to death of my honeycombs.

thanx anyone who helps, and thanx gramdacious for your advice!

I know that with tantrums you'll have to remove your rear "dust cap" for them to fit. Removal is no big deal and riding with them off isn't either.....according to information I've managed to gather searching. Hope that helps!

Personally, I think you should wait and get 17x7.5 so that at least you can fit 235/45/17 tires safely. YOu get excellent tire choices and also save some money that way. If the deal is good enough though...

AFAIK, Tantrums come in 17x7, 17x8, 18x8, and 19x8...I am currently looking at the 19x8 version

I had 17x7 Tantrums a few years ago and loved them. They look great on just about every car I have seen them on.

You have to take a hammer to the cap to remove it, so no, you cannot put them back on. I've had mine off since I got the car, and I had them off on my other Maxima for three years no problems.

hey, your car will look like mine then! lol! Yea, i have 17x7 tantrums with 225/45/17 Kumho 712 tires lying in my garage.... Overall, I've been pretty happy with the setup, although now, I wish I got 18's now. If I ever get 18's, I'd probably get some gunmetal 18 axis sevens... those are nice looking rims! haha. anyway, can't wait till this crappy boston weather gets warmer and yea, definitely go with the tantrums!

You want to come test my 530i against your Maxima? If only the Maxima could ever handle like that, i'd be in heaven...

Stock 530i against a suspension-upgraded 5 sp maxima? Sure that's a great race. I used to sell Nissans and BMWs. The 528s and the 530s are nice but certainly aren't clouds above a beefed up maxima. Now if you said 540i, M5, or M3., then I would put my tail between my legs and run home to my mom!

true, but i don't know anyone with them and haven't seen a maxima near me with them. i would like my car to be unique, but this is all i can afford and i like them still. but as far as rims, there's almost always gonna be lots of other people with the same ones, so i'm not gonna worry about it. but thanx for the input, i know what you mean.

The tires are for smaller cars. You would have to pay a little more for tires that will fit our cars. And the tires are Khumos I believe. YOu should call and talk to them instead of ordering over the internet.

Yeah, the 17s come with 205-40-17s i believe, thats why their prices are insane. The rims and stuff are meant for Civics and such, not Maxs, just call them and see if they can hook you up with AT LEAST 215-50-17, i go with 225/235-45/-17s...

I have some Konig Tantrums 17x7. I'm lowered with H&R's. They look really nice. I get a lot of looks and compliments on them. Hoewever, they always did look kind of small; so I'm going with Racing Hart Evolution C5 18x7.5 on 235/40/18 Kumho Supra 712 tires from Wheelmax for $1700 shipped. That price includes the road hazard warranty. If you bend or destroy a rim or rims, simply buy another one and send them your receipt and Wheelmax will reimburse you. The warranty is an extra $100 and covers you for 3 years. Moreover, you didn't have to take a hammer to the rear dustcaps. Just get spacers for the rear wheels. I tried using the hammer method and wasn't successful; I just ended up putting dents in the dust cap. I got spacers from a rim dealer and now the center caps fit like a charm.

You can check out my Konigs on my page. I don't know why the pictures won't load up here when I post the links.

Actually, Gramdacious... In defense of RastaManMax, the 528i/530i were rated with better handling than the 540i for a few reasons. First, the 530i comes with Rack and Pinion steering rather than the 540's recirculating ball, and the I6 of the 530 gives the car better weight distribution than the 540's V8... thus better feel AND better overall handling. IMHO, both 540 and 530 w/ sports package could outhandle a moderately modified max. They're diff animals...

Well, as best as I can explain it to you, its this bigg as$ Lead looking bubble in the center of your rear rotors. There not on your front wheels. I never had this problem with other rims, but for some reason 17 inch Tantrums will not fit over these, so they have to be removed. The rims will fit on your front wheels just fine though. I know....its a little wierd. I have tantrums, but haven't had the time to even try getting those dust caps off, so the rims are just siting in my storage. All the same, Im told that a strong screw driver and a hammer should do the trick in pry'n them off.
