When its cold in the morning or when its cold period if I have my ebrake on then let it down. The light still stays on..after it warms up it goes away. Whats up with this?

hmm. i've got a 3rd gen...almost the same problem. i always put my e-brake up...(even tho i have a/t) but right when the cold weather started to come about...it wont go off. I'm thinking it could be shorted out? or i need new rear brakes?

I should get it checked out

that dash light is not just for the parking brake, it also comes on when you're low on brake fluid

check that NOW

This same thing happens to me too, but only in the deepest cold. I took off my back tire to take a look, and it turns out (at least in my car) that the cable that engages the break doesn't fully disengage, but not to the point that my breaks are still on, just to the point that the light doesn't shut off until things warm up. I did check my fluid levels btw, and it seemed fine

Not to be ****, but the handbrake is refered to as the PARKING brake. It is not an emergency brake. It is designed to be engaged when parking, hence the name. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine

I would be using my parking brake in an emergency situation. To get really technical I would actually be using my rear brakes... but enough nonsense. The term emergency brake just bothers me. Maybe I should try to get over it, or I may go insane, they way people in this forum are
