Brake Pads?

Hey guys, what are some good brake pads to go along with the stock rotors? I want to upgrade the brakes a little, but I don't want to spend the money on all new rotors. How much can upgraded pads (without rotors) help? Also, I have always had squeaky brakes (never went away), so would getting new pads stop this? Or will I HAVE to replace the rotors?

I went with Raybestos Quiet Stop Pads. They are very quiet like in no noise. I heard mixed opinions on dusting, at least in my case there is very little dusting as compared to OEM. Significantly better braking with little or no fade. Fronts are $56 and Rears $46 at Pepboys. Cost $8 per rotor for turning. Pads come with Self adhesive shims so you probably wouldn't brake kits. Check caliper pins, especially fronts for wear, you can get 4 for $23 at Advance Auto. Synthetic High Temp Grease and CRC Anti Squeal are about $3 each. You'll need a couple of cans of aerosol brake cleaner, I prefer CRC and it costs about $2.75 per can. When doing rear pads you might consider borrowing the Disk Brake Piston Removal Tool to turn rear pistons CW while gently pushing them back in. I bought mine for $6 at Advance Auto. This would be a good time for painting calipers as you'll have everything apart and cleaned! Hope this helps!

you should see improvements with just upgrading front pads, the cross drilled/slotted rotors will definately help when u do lots of braking in a short period of time by keeping your contact surfaces cooler....

the brands for the pads that I like are EBC's (i have them) and Raybestos QuiteStop

Turning the rear piston while pushing back in is a real PITA w/o some sort of tool. I did mine with a pair of needle-nose and it was painful.
