New Eibachs v. Old Ebiacs v. H&Rs v. Maxspeeds
UPDATE: New Eibachs v. H&Rs v. Maxspeeds
I have a newer Generation of the Eibach Pro-Kit on the way to me. I have read tons of threads, all giving differi9ng accounts of the newer pr kit. Most say that the H&R/MaxSpeed variety of spring are slightly softer (closer to OEM SE), while others claim that the newer pro-kit is actually softer. Also, the OLDER pro-kit was supposedly not as low as the H&Rs or MaxSpeeds, but now I read that the newer pro-kit is lower than the old ones, as well as being lower than the H&Rs and maxspeeds.
Can anyone shed some truth and light on this situation? I wanted a mild drop with near OEM ride. I have a while before I actually install, so if these are wrong for me I will try to trade them for maxspeeds or H&Rs.
Also, ther IS a difference between the Pro-kit and regular eibachs, right? Or am I all screwed up?
I did read Suspension Questions Answered, as well as a lot of threads that suggested that curious minds read that particular thread.
Any insight, corrections, thoughts?

Well if you ordered the new Pro Kit you are going to have awsome handleing but the ride will be rougher than stock..If you want alittle drop and close to stock ride, H&R's are for you
If you dont like the Eibachs, Ill take them off your hands in a min..I can send the m/o whenever your ready as long as there the new generation

Jesus, why does everyone think the H&Rs don't drop the Maxima much???? My 96 5 speed riding on H&Rs sits lower than the "new" Eibach equipped 98 5 speed. H&Rs give a 1.8" drop. It's not 1.6" like they advertize. I have a 2" gap in the front and rear.

I could give you a ride in the H&R's and KYB AGX combo if you'd like.

Okay, the kit came in and it is the NEW eibach pro kit. Looks to be in perfect condition. Matty has offered to buy it from me, but I do not know if I should sell it and go w/ the MaxSpeeds, or whether I should hang onto it.
The question hinges on peoples impressions of the RIDE on the newer style eibach pro kit. The older version was listed as being pretty harsh, now I get conflicting reports on the newer model. The nodel number on my new kit is 6334.140.
So if my goal is a lowered look with a near-stock ride and improved handling, which way should I go? Keep the new eibachs? Sell them and get new MaxSpeeds? Look for used H&Rs?
BTW, the Eibach springs look nearly new and were sold w/ about 3K on them.

Ask anyone on the .org and they will tell you that eibachs are purly handling springs with a pretty modest drop, and they ride rougher than stock..the H&R's are the closest to stock ride youll find out there, with again, a modest drop...I havent heard much about the maxspeed other than being less expensive than alot of the other springs. If I was in your situation and wanting a good ride and alittle drop I would:
1) Sell them to matty
2) Buy H&R's or wait for used ones since your not in a rush to get them installed

I have experience with both H&R's and Eibachs, and their is not much difference at all, eibachs are a tiny bit stiffer, but not to the extent that you really realize the difference right away... my $.02...

Actually I rode in a Max with Eibach/Tokico just recently. That setup rides almost exactly like my winter setup, AGX/STOCK SPRINGS with the AGX's set on 2 and 3. The Tokico is a smooth strut, and if you couple that with a firm spring you get a nice ride.
This spring the AGX's go out and Tokico's get coupled with my H&R's. I bet I'm the first on this board to do that! :-)

If I decide to sell them it wount be until mid spring or summer.
How old are old eibachs?
These Eibachs were purchased a year ago in March. That's march 2002 I believe. They're lower than any H&R I've ever seen, but again, I'm not sure if they qualify as the "new eibachs." As far as ride goes, if I had to do it again, I'd buy a set of used H&R's. As far as price goes, if I had to do it again, I'd buy a set of the cheapest POS's I could find

I tell you what, it would be a lot easier to handle if they put real seats in the Maxima. I think my next project is to try and transplant SHO seats into the front.

Man Tom you must be the master of wishy washy decisions when it comes to suspension.

Anyway here are my two cents. I had the older gen Eibachs ( higher and softer then yours Phenryiv1) with Tokico's. I moved on to H&R/AGX, and I have to say that the ride with AGX/H&R is much better, more closer to OEM then the Eibach one was ( on the lower settings that is) . Tok's are softer then AGX's even at the lowest setting, but Eibach's are a LOT harsher then H&R springs. H&R's give you more of a drop in the front the the OLD' Eibachs did, probably about the same drop as the New Eibachs that you have. (I've also heard that then newer gen Eibachs are harsher then the older ones I had) Eibachs are an AWESOME Performance spring, you will have dream like handling if you mate then with the correct Struts ( namely AGX's ) Tokico's will go great with H&R's becuase they're not as harsh as Eibachs, and won't wear down the tok's like they did in my case. Over time the Eibach/Tok combo I had was really riding like crap, I was hitting the bump stops a lot more than I liked. My suggestion to you is go with the H&R springs. The drop is noticable, but it's not that low. You'll have no clearance issues most likely and your car won't look slammed. In addition you'll have a decent ride with better then OEM handling. Good luck.
