Just went to the dealer.....*sigh*
Well anyways today I was screwed twice.........it might be a little long but I would like some advice so please do read:
So I get up nice and early 7:30 to get my car (96 SE) to Walkley Nissan right when they open, so I drop it off tell them the problems: bad acceleration aka no low end power, fuel mileage a little bad, and I was getting the 0304 code.
Now you might ask "Steve! Why didn't you just change the knock sensor?" Well I called the place I bought the car from, and they said they would happily pay for a check up on the car at the local Nissan dealer, so I think sweet I will be able to know exactly what is wrong with the car, I mean surely these nissan mechanics know much more than I do.
Well around 4:15 I am heading back to Walkley Nissan to pick up the car and I get a call on my cell. Its the guy from the used car dealership I bought the car from, he tells me Walkley Nissan called him and told him the knock sensor code and all my problems are due to aftermarket parts! And he rufuses to pay for the check up now!
So I get to Walkley Nissan and ask to speak to the guy who checked out my car. He comes out and tells me to pop my hood. I do so. And he points out the FrakenCar intake, then he points out the Ambient(sp?) Air Sensor (ya know the sensor that was attached to the stock intake, and has to be placed elsewhere for aftermarket filters) he says because the stock intake system is longer there and because this sensor is no longer attached to the inatke system it is causing the bad fuel mileage, bad acceleration, and knock sensor code.
What the hell? I've been told on this board that as long as that sensor sits beside the new K&N filter it is ok. I used a zip tie and connected to the negative battery cable that is right beside the K&N filter. By the way I should add there was bad lowend power before I put on the FrakenCar Intake!
So my question was the tech right? Is this all my fault? Could this sensor really cause all this problems? I really thought that just placing that sensor near the filter was what I was supposed to do.
So in the end I had to pay for the check up! Damn it, this got me mad.
Sorry bout the long post but thanks for reading, any advice would be appreicated.

PS. If you have any pictures of where you put this sensor after putting on an aftermarket intake please post them or send them to me at idolsword@hotmail.com

the nissan tech is definitely wrong, but they can make a strong case regarding the mass air sensor location.
if the frankencar intake is carb/dot legal you shouldn't have a problem. you can fight it but it may not be worth it. however, if it isn't you have a tough fight on your hands.

If you were having the same problems before you installed the intake then obviously the intake couldn't be the problem and the dealership morons are FOS.

Another time: Me and my buddies went in there because my friend was looking for a new car and he had it down to the Sentra SE-R or Civic Si... They did even worse this time, he asked them for info on SE-R's and the salesman just gave him a cheap printout, answered his cell phone in front of us, started off a conversation on his cell phone and walked off without saying excuse me or anything... This ****ed him off and eventually he ended up buying the Si...
For real, i hate Walkley Nissan and anybody else, i strongly suggest you go to the one off Innes road, now those are real salespeople... When i went there to drop off the Max for the oil change, they offered a free lift to where i was going, asked if i wanted to test out the new Max, offered me a drink as i checked out Nissans new rides...
