Knock Sensors???

Knock Sensors???

Hi i took my 95 5speed to the dealer 3 days to have them replace the knock sensors b/c i used to beat auto maximas.. and now i loss all the time.., but the mechanic told me that the knock sensors dont really matter and if i want my car faster i should change some other stuff, but KNOCK SENSORS dont matter at all...... now what do you guys think?

u only need to replace knock sensor if u pull a code...0304 i believe...have u done a tune up on your car? all these could help..

yes they code did come.. im sorry i forgot to type that... and no i haven't done a tune up yet, but i will by the end of this week

since you're a newbie you're forgiven, but this has been talked over and over again, use search and 99.999% you'll find anything you're looking for. as for your mechanic, tell him to find another job. when the knock sensor lights trips, the computer goes to the "safe" fuel/air mode because it thinks that the engine is knocking, hence your performance and gas consumption suffers dramatically
