Skyline Gauges?

Asside from the difference in wiring connectors, would I be crazy for trying this?

Fronts: Notice pretty much identical mounting tabs.

Re: Skyline Gauges?

And here's the backs. Obviously, the wiring connectors would be a PITA.

Looks like it might need modification to fit, as it doesn't look exactly the same as our Max guage shape.

Not sure about the electronic part, but if you can get the wiring to work (like you said, the connectors are different), then it might be possible - if you get it working nicely, props for being unique!

those gauges are gorgeous!

is it an issue that the speedo goes up to 180? it interperts the same data right, so it should still work (just to a higher speed)?

please keep us updated, though it looks like a tough install, i bet it can be done. also, the plugs on the back are not necessarily different, wouldnt that be convenient?

Those gauges look tight! It could prolly fit with some modification. There are a few problems tho: It looks like there is an oil temp under the tach, it wouldnt work unless you found a way to manually hook it up. The redline on the tach is at 7k instead of 6500, not that big of a deal as long as u remember. You would have to get an older one, the newer ones have the digital odometer, and it looks like you have the analog. Id try to find the dimemsions because getting it to fit will be the hardest part. The plugs look to be the exact same which is great.

i bet the oil pressure sensor could be hooked up with minimal issue.

stupid question, but in case it wont fit, would it be possible to take out the face and put it in the original cluster? It kind of looks like the circles are the same size

The skyline guages are kmph to...which might be a problem. I talked to a guy about doing this before. But I decided it wasn't worth it.

stupid question.....will the odometer read it as miles or KM? since if you take it off a wrecked skyline, you figure it's been reporting kms, if you put it in a max, will it report miles?

Straight off the bat it will be an incorrect reading, you will have to calibrate it. The face, you could even draw your own for 300mph and then modify the speedo for it.

Hahah

Dude you should do this, but before you do it, make sure your Maxima can go that fast!!! Not to burn you but dude that would be so awesome, People say that the Maxima is really a 4dr Skyline in disguise, except a little downgraded and more family like.

Thanks guys. We'll see what happens with my 5th gen as far as repairs go, and Now I got to pay a ticket that my wife got last night. This is turning out to be a bad month. BTW The gauges are on ebay. Current bid is 71 bucks. Link to Ebay Yes, I realize that they only go to 180 kmph. Like 110 mph. We'll see.
