dad likes the max.....

My dad has a 96 camry. He loves it, always telling me how even at 220,000 miles, it still has great pickup, blah, blah, blah....
so i had to pick up my dad at the mechanic after he dropped off his car this morning. We're on Route 33 and there's this d1ck in front of me merging left, right, left, right then signaling for a turn and deciding against it. My dad's all like "just pass this *******". Well, i go WOT, the intake growls, and i fly by the other car...and keep going to about 110. I look down at the speedo, and see i'm almost at 115, then let off the gas, expecting to get yelled at. I look over at my dad, and he's got this huge grin on his face. He starts asking me about the intake, and how the car runs, and what else i'm going to do to it...Then he gets another grin and asks me at what speed does the car top out. At that point i was getting over to the right lane, becuase my exit was coming up...but i was like, oh i've gotten pretty close to 140, but i don't want to damage the engine, or crash, etc....So as we're getting off the highway, he's got this huge grin on his face, and he's all like, well, you'll have to show me sometime....

Dad's are cool man. I'm always speeding when my dad is in the car with me. Now my mother on the other hand.. "you're going to fast, brake, slow down, stop" etc.

Now try doing 115mph with ur mom inside.
I'll bet she won't grin.

Oddly enough, my 75-y/o mother-in-law loves it when I go WOT when she's in the car. (intake & y-pipe)

She say's it reminds her of the '69 MachI that she had in 1971.

i got my dad a jwt intake for his q45 for his birthday. i also started modding my car a while ago. he didn't believe in the FSTB or RSB until he drove it. he was also against lowering the car, but i went ahead and did it, now he loves it to death.

doesn't matter much though, i own the car and pay for it, so i could really do whatever i want. it's still cool having a dad who's into this stuff.

I wish a had a mother-in-law like that. If I start going over 75mph, my mother start putting her feet on the glass, and grabs the hook on the ceiling.. I do it on purpose sometimes to get a good laugh

my mom pushes the imaginary brake in the passenger seat. she is always telling me to slow down, but it just encourages me to floor it while she is in the car.... she is scared to death

I wish my parents could be like that. Actually my mom doesn't say anything unless I'm really pushing it by going WOT. My dad...well, I let him drive it when I got it and all he did was follow the speed limit. Don't get me wrong it's a good thing, but when you have a open road with no traffic...it's just begging to be torn into. Well, as much as I pushed him to floor it, he didn't. Oh well,

my friend's mom is like that. She used to be a mechanic back in the day, so whenever she sees me pull up, she's always asking what i'm doing with the car, and gives as much advice as she can.

My mom refuses to get in the car with me. the last time she was in, she demanded that i drive as slow as she felt safe, which wound up with me doing 45 in a 55. I told her that it was my car, that i knew how to drive, and that i would drive as fast as i damn wanted to. Well, not really. I did exactly 55 home, and she b1tched the entire way, so now she refuses to get in the car. I think she figures it's a punishment. I take it as a blessing.

i wish my parent were like that. my dad use to have a z when they first came out and as soon as i got my license he sold it oh well. he actually took me out driving on time at a stadium and let me get loose. that was fun. now he drives a 00maxGLE and i let him drive mine and he was impressed. but he would never get into that with me. all he does is sit around and count other peoples money and play golf.

My dad loves driving my car too. Ever since I got mine, he's been thinking of getting a new max. I told him that I ran 15.5 in the 1/4 and he was blown away that it still had that much power even over 110K mi!

Dads are cool, especially ones that don't have as cool of a car as their kid. I'd swear sometimes my dad lives vicariously through mine and my bro's cars(1984 Hurst/Olds w/ LT1 swap.)

I was in Phoenix last year driving aorund with my dad and he asked me to floor it just a little.

I did, got to 80 in a 40, and he yelled at me...."I just meant accellerate up to the speed limit! "YOU SHOULDN'T DRIVE SO FAST IN A RESIDENTAL AREA!!!"

(This was a 3-lane wide road with no sidestreets anywhere)

The next day, he's like: "Can I drive". I say "Sure".

Next thing I know he's doing nearly 100 on the same road and then at the end of that stretch of road, he slams on the brakes and pulls a 90 degree turn at an intersection at 40....smoking my tires pretty good.

he's lucky he's my dad - I would have killed anyone else for doing that to my tires....

But I beat up on enough of his cars when I was a teenager - so we're even.

My dads cool, we were comming home from him picking up his nast ford probe thing from a melted rotor or somthing like that and we pulled up besides each other and we were talking then the light turned green and he smiled and took off.. so jokingly i coaught up to him and passed him. then slowed down just enough so he could catch back up to me.

dont know if it was the probe or his bad driving but he was upset that i beat him. i still rub it in every now and then when he says he misses his probe. he traded it in a week later and got himself a Jeep grand cherokee. we havent raced again...yet!

My dad and I both have maximas. he has a white 99 and I have a gold 95... both 5 speed. Mine is better because its got 18s and an intake and strut bar and exterior designs on it. hes got about 100 thousand less miles than me. so more or less were even.

I talk alot of Sh*t so one day he was like fine lets race... we line up and race comin into fourth i had him burnt but I felt bad and let him win. because he taught me how to drive and he has a newer maxima so if i won he would be upset... Biggest mistake ever. I didnt hear the end of that for about two weeks. until we decided to race again. BURNED THE HELL OUT OF HIM.

end of story

My dad's 2003 V8 AWD 4runner would kill me off the line (320lb-ft torque @ low rpm/All Wheel Drive) but would get anhillated after I hooked up. I overheard him bragging to one of his Navy buddies about my car once after he drove it, made me feel special.

i hear you man.. my old man took a ride in my maxima when i got it brand new in 99.. he seemed very proud of me for having my sh8t together and being able to afford a brand new car.. he lives overseas, and whenever i talk to him he asks me how the black beauty is doing.

My dad is somewhat against me modding my Maxima out.....funny thing is that after i got my intake and exhaust, he asked me if he could drive to my car to my grandmothers house instead of me...so i let him. Going down a 45mph street....he decided to see what my car could do.....so he pushed the gas pedel pretty hard to come close to WOT, and we got to 70 pretty quick. I asked him why he did that, and he said your car is to noisy.....that probably a sign that he liked how fast my car got to 70 pretty fast......then he said that his old 89' Jeep Cherrokee is faster (dad's big fan of Jeeps)....I knew he was lying cuz that Jeep is slow.
