crankshaft position sensor?
crankshaft position sensor?
The diagnosis on my engine said I need to fix the crankshaft position sensor. I know its function, but I have no idea where it is or how to fix it. Anybody around that can guide me?
Re: crankshaft position sensor?
The Cam sensor you can see, it's right by the belts, just above the idler pulley. Resistance should be 1440 - 1760 ohms at 68 deg.
Crank sensors, REF is located under the lower pulley. Just remove the splash shield by the right front wheel and you'll see the sensor, it looks at the lower pulley. The POS sensor is located on the tranny bell housing under the car. I believe it's up behind the lower splash shield, right by the front engine mount. Which one is more likely to go bad... YOU GOT ME!!
Haynes manual says REF sensor should measure 470 - 570 ohms at 68deg.
POS sensor test - Remove the sensor, plug it in and turn the ignition on, use a volt meter to measure the white wire. Tap the pickup with a metal object (screwdriver), when the object touches the sensor the white wire should have 5 volts on it. Pull the screwdriver away and it should drop to zero.
Hope that help you out.
