Should I Change my spark plugs @ 51K, please help!

My car has 51k on it. And i asked the dealer ship they told me i should not change the spark plugs. they said this car has platinum spark plugs and you change those at 100k. should i listen to the dealer. or should i change them? if so what is a good brand to use?

You really need to do that at your 60k service, I'd just wait and do it all at once.

NOTE: You will notice a difference

I think cost is b/t 300-400 if you have the dealer do it.

Sure, under "normal" driving conditions, and if you use premium fuel ALL the time (you should be) you could go 100k without touching them, but at 60k they are showing signs of age. My car ran totally different after my 60k service. A lot smoother too.

I paid high 200's but the dealer said the same thing, that I had the platnums, and I didn't need to change until 100K...I decided I would do them myself anyways.

Thanks everyone for the comments. i think I’m going to open up my spark plug tomorrow and look at it. if it looks dirty and rusted out I’ll change them all. i don’t know if i should listen to the dealer. my car has a little vibration. i did 42k service on it. Included throttle body, injection cleaning and engine and trany flush. but i still have vibration. so i thinking its because of the spark plugs.

I could have sworn that the 95-99s were good for 60K, and the 2000+ Maximas went to 100K intervals.

what the dealer told me...(so you can take it with a grain of salt) is that some 95-96's came with bosche spark plugs, and those definately need to be replaced, but the NKG Plats are fine for 100K I look at it, as it can only get better with a new set of plugs.

I was told mine were good for 100k on my 97 also.
Pull one plug ( an easy one to get too). If it looks fine, odds are, they all are. If the car is running good, and getting normal mileage, you should not have to change the plugs now. Unless of course you feel like busting some knuckles just for the heck of it.
