Begining overdue maintainance this week.

sup guys, i just finished doing a search and decided on what i am going to do for my maintainance to my car for this week. Im no car expert but i am good with my hands so i chose to do the jobs i know i can handle. My car has 109,8XX miles on it and from what i know has only had its O2 censors replaced. here is my list.
1- coolant change
2- throttle body cleaning
3- spark plug replacement (NGK of course.)
4- fuel filter replacement
5- oil flush done at dealer(free gift certificate)
6- re-lube starter (squealing noise)
7- Clean fuel injectors (STP cleaner junk )
If i am missing something please let me know. i get paid tomorrow and since i am on spring break i will have ample time to do this. i have a question on flushing my collant. after i drain the radiator and rinse the water through it, can i fill it on 100% water and start the engine to circulate that dirty coolant in the engine bank. will it be safe, there is no word on doing this at motorvate.com only the instructions on draining engine banks and i dont want to do all that. Thanx in advance guys.

Yes. I flushed my car that way, drained then refilled with tap water 4 times. On 5th time refilled with 1 gallon of antifreeze, Peak Extended life and filtered water. Also added 8 ounces of Red Line Water Wetter. You probably should replace the PCV Valve (it's cheap) and check air filter.

thanx for the reply. its funny you should mention the pcv valve because im searching now on maintainance and i see it coming up alot. i see no description on what it does or what it is or where it is located. If its a 10 min job that costs less than 5 bucks than ill do it for sure but i gotta find some instructions on how to do it. oh yeah my air filter is practically brand new, i changed it last oil change. Any other suggestions are welcomed guys. im still searchin but id like to hear what your thoughts are. Remember my car hasnt had a 30 60 or 90,000 mile tune up so i know theres mad stuff i gotta take care of. TIA

It allows blow by and crankcase gases to be burned in engine thereby reducing emissions. If it gets stuck closed you can get engine oil leaks and stuck open and your idle gets messed up. You probably ought to consider flushing your tranny if you have an automatic, probably not a bad idea if you have a 5 speed. PCV Valve is located on the left front of the rear valve cover. All directions from sitted position on drivers seat. Costs less than $5 and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

The grease in starter dries out and thickens and causes starting failures. I imagine it could cause squealing if left go long enough. There is a real nice write up with pictures on www.motorvate.ca on doing this maintenance. I found that write up after I did mine. I used CRC Aerosol Electrical Spray to clean starter and used AMSOIL Synthetic Grease to regrease everything. My starting problems are gone plus it really cranks faster! Another thing I have been doing is to clean all the starter wires and terinals, all ground wires under the hood, ground wires and brackets and battery terminals and cables. This made a BIG Difference in MPG (+10%) and improved performance. Best of all it is free! Factory grounds are poor, brackets are bolted to painted and primered surfaces with a bolt & threads the only ground path. The body ground wire under the battery base is connected this way! This is my low cost hyper ground mod!

keep em coming guys. karguy, directions for relubing the starter can be found at www.motorvate.ca. from what i read there is that the reason the starter might squeal is because the grease in the starter dries up after a couple years and can get sticky.what you are doing is cleaning out the old grease and applying new lubricant. if it sounds confusing you better read up on it yourself. its an easy job and since im going to clean my throttle body i might as well do the starter. (the directions for the starter mod requests you remove the airbox so since the airbox is off i might as well do the TB and starter.) If anyone has a pic with an arrow pointing to where the PCV valve is it would be a big help. im an idiot so make sure its a big ol' arrow. im goin to search on how to change tranny fluid cause i know i need it. also mabey the brake fluid. i know changing the steering fluid is easy so ill do that too.

*BUMP*
hey guys, just wanted to update you on the progress of my maintainance. After chillin at southbeach this morning(springbreak thing)i headed to maroone nissan and pep boys to pick up all of the stuff i would need. i got my NGK plugs at nissan 69.00 bucks total . i kinda felt suckered as i went to pepboys and saw bosh for 1.99 each. oh well, i guess i have the satisfaction of knowing i have nissan promoting these. other than the plugs, here is a list of stuff i got at pepboys.
-prestone extended life coolant
-power steering fluid
-Fuel filter
-STP fuel injection cleaner
-PCV Valve
-Red line watter wetter
-Lithium grease spray
-Throttle body cleaner.
. besides tools, what else may i need. I think later on when i get some more money ill do a tranny flush brake flush and put some of that goo on the brake pads so they dont squeak so much. i have all of the instructions except for the pcv valve, can anyone point me in the direction to find me some instructions WITH PICTURES. i just cant seem to find any. oh and how much power steering fluid is needed for the car,i only have 32oz. Im still deciding if i want to take of the intake manifold also t clean it. im going to see how hard it is to do.
TIA guys i begin work tomorow.
