I notice that on my '95 GXE, the power antenna goes up when you turn the car on, and down when you turn the car off - regardless of whether the radio is on or not.

Is this normal? The manual states that it should go down when you turn the radio off -- and this makes a lot more sense.

Unfortunately, I did not put 2 and 2 together and drove through the car wash with the engine on (but radio off, mind you). Ouch... a bent antenna after only having the car a week. Now it won't retract into the hole all the way -- it sticks out by approximately 1 foot.

I've found out where I can get a replacement antenna, and how to replace it, thanks to an old thread on the forum.

But then I'll still have the problem of it not going down in the car wash unless I cut the engine.... and some car washes require you to leave the engine on while passing through, so that you can roll forward when necessary.

So the question is, again.. is (was) my antenna normal? Or should the antenna go down right away when I turn off the radio? Is my wiring incorrect? Are all Maximas like this, or did they change this in a later model year?

I have a 98 and the antenna goes up when the radio is on and goes down when the radio is powered off, or if the CD player is on,so the antenna would constantly go up and down when switching from cd to radioetc .. BTW its a bose stock radio dunno if that helps
