Could this solve the elusive transmission oil leak?

Ok guys,

I have a 1998 automatic SE, and from time to time it leaks transmission oil. It will not leak when the weather here in Illinois is below freezing, but once it warms up, it leaks. It is not a major drip or anything like that, but the hotter it gets, the fluid pours out at a faster rate.

My friend owns a 1995 automatic GLE, and he had the same problem. As soon as he had his transmission flushed, his transmission didn't leak anymore.

Also, I should mention that my mechanic said the transmission is very dirty, and that I do need a flush. He said that it is almost brown. I never did flush it, but that is because I don't drive the car a lot, and never push it too hard. It also has 36,000 miles, which is not a whole lot for a five-year-old car.

So my question is could this leak be caused by the transmission oil being so “cut down” that it gets in between the seals? Also, the rate of the leak has slowed down after I added a quart of tranny fluid. The fluid is regular though, and I never used synthetic.

Please let me know
