Place Racing CAI

How many of you own the Place Racing CAI and if so what do u think about it compared to the others?

I currently own a K&N CAI thinking of switching to Place Racing

I have a PR CAI, it came with the car when I bought it. Can't compare it to anything else, cause this is MY first Max. My dad has a stock automagic, but mine's a 5-speed, so I can't compare those two either. Good power though. Not too loud till I pass 4K RPM.

Go to the "How-To" section on www.maximadriver.com

You will see a link there for "How to install a CAI", the CAI that Cheston uses is a PR CAI.

I have a PR CAI, but I have only installed the midpipe. I'll get to installing the lower section when I have the time and the weather gets warmer. So far, I like it.

Question for you: Why do you want to put a different CAI on if you already have one? I'd just stay with what you have. There's not too much differences in a CAI, except for Injen which doesn't go through the fenerwall.

One thing I don't like about the PR CAI is that it comes with a Monsterflow Airfilter. Its a foam element filter. I'd rather have the K&N filter and I'm planning on getting a cone K&N filter to replace the MF Filter.

have you tried our wonderful search option? it works wonders. i have a place racing cai and i love it. nice deep throaty sound around the 4-5k rpm. and i have a drone around 2-2.5k rpm. sometime it even whistles. my friends say the cai makes the car sound almost like a v8 when revved at a high rpm. here's a picture...

I picked it up from www.custommaxima.com for $215. Took me about 3 hours to install. Hardest part was actually taking out the old throttle body and crap. And trying to reach under the wheel well to put on the filter was a PITA.

If everyone used the search function all the time, there would be A LOT less posting on this board. Plus what of all the new people who haven't seen certain topics yet. KrZyMaX, you didn't have to click on the topic if youve seen it many times before. It's annoying at how many times we're told to use the search function.

Uhhh... There's no reason the throttle body should be removed. You just undo the clamp for that accordian looking pipe that goes to the throttle body and replace it with that rubber coupler and the midpipe.

sorry, i meant the RAM air black intake thingy. The one with all the black plastic tubes running around the battery and what not. not the throttle body with that gone and makes a lot of space in the engine bay.

what the heck?! i helped didn't i? of course i could have ignored the thread completely, but instead, decided to help you out. i even gave you a picture to look at as you requested. why are you making a big deal about it? i'm just reminding you people that there is a search button. i used it a lot and others should too.

of course i didn't have to click on this thread. but i did. if you look back at my post, i answered his question. i didn't just simply say, "use search" and end it there. it's annoying at how many times people don't read the posts carefully and think about it before trying to attack somebody else.

Deciding to respond to questions is always based on an our evaluation of whether the asker is aware of the tools available at any given moment. I work in an academic library. I hear the same questions year after year. It takes alot of dicipline to keep from screaming and to show them the best way to use these tools. But if no one asked, we would never know if we were doing it right...
