power steering fluid leaking??

today i went underneath my car to change my oil when i noticed a residue around my power steering rack. it looked like fresh oil around that area. after changing the motoroil i checked all fluid levels and noticed everything was fine. what can cause this leakage? does this mean my power steering will be on it's last legs soon? what can be done?

I had a power steering leak fixed under recall on my 97, you might want to call your local nissan and ask them about it.

Or you could call 1-800-NISSAN-1 and ask nissan of north america, becuase they are more acurate and they help much better then the dealership...

thank you. i'll try that before trying to arm wrestle with the dealership. i knew someone here would mention a recall. of course i would have put a search on it but for some reason it was not working (hint hint). i hope this doesn't turn into a headache.

one of my friends went in to have his alternator replaced under the recall but they wouldnt do it because he wasnt the original owner......so he took it to another dealer and they took care of him. If they say no even after a bit of arguing, just walk away - before they put the memo down on your record and NO dealership will do it
