When I had my 3rd gen max, I ripped apart the whole stock airbox and designed/built a CAI(PVC pipe and some aluminum piping for the tube, I had to buy the cone filter). It's possible to do, and certainly cheaper than a stillen, but I found myself always wondering if it was air tight or if i did something wrong. I'm a college student also and I did many things to my car myself rather than paying a professional and I've found that the price difference usually isn't that significant. Bottom line, buy the JWT pop charger. That extra money can cover your peace of mind and security knowing that the product you have works.

www.cattman.com for the JWT...... if you want frankencar www.frankencar.com (i'd rather go with the frankencar)

by far the best setup you could do is a frankencar intake with the apexi filter, comes with the midpipe, and the apexi filter is dry so no maintence has to be done to it, and it has been dyno'd to add atleast 12-14 hp with that setup

I recommend trying to buy a JWT from someone on the forum. They are kinda expensive just for the filter. Generally, if you get them somewhere else its about 100+shipping. You can always make your own intake midpipe from this site http://www.drwebdesign.com/mymaxima/upperintake.html
. However, i might change the exhaust pipe and make it a PVC pipe. ths setup is simlar to the frankencar midpipe just with a different filter.. just my opinion

u can get a K&N popcharger and gain approx. 4HP from this setup, or u can also get BOMz CAI on ebay for $50... but no dyno has showed how much BOMz gains, u'll have to find tat out urself. these are the 2 cheap intake setup i know...

personally i suggest save up $$ and get a quality intake tat will give u solid HP/torque gain... such as frankencar intake or place racing CAI. it's up to u.
