How can you tell if a car has ABS?

Assuming the road is dry, and you don't want to take a year's life off the tires by stomping the brakes at 60 mph?

the abs sits right under the master cylinder. its a silver and gold metal box with brake lines attaching it to the master cylinder. theres also a green tag that says Nippon ABS LTD on the box. hope this helps.

it would optional on your max to have an ABS. if you where the original owner of the car. they would tell u if you want abs. the GLE trims come with ABS. and yes as the other person said there is box inside of the engine on the right side behind the intake box its acutall right under the intake box. if you see that that means your car has it. there like 4 lines of break going into it.

abs

You can check by just looking at the fuse box and see if there is a fuse where it says abs "fuse box under the hood"

GLE's come with it stock, most fully loaded SE's if not all come with it, a few GXE's come with it. THe easiest way to test is to just step in the car, and turn the key almost all the way where it will show all the icons lighted up on the dash. If ABS lights up, u have it

Early GLE's didn't come with it stock. I have a GLE w/o ABS. It was not standard until 1998.

seriously...if there is snow or rain...go to an empty parking lot or something (with no other cars around). go on a 5-10mph roll and jam the brakes. give yourself enough stopping distance.

your car shouldn't go out of control or anything...but just incase.

i thought it did too. if you've been in a car with abs when it locks its amazing .

Youll feal each tires act on its own. the cars brakes will shake apply one after the other simoutanelously but not the pedal of it at all <thats abs.

1. Go to a snow covered wal*mart parking lot.
2. Make sure there are very few cars there, if any at all.
3. Start from the adjacent end of the parking lot from the walmart bulding.
4. Drive towards the building at 30 mph
5. 60ft before hitting the building, depress the break as far as it will normally go.
6. If you hit the bulding, you have ABS, if you stop before the buliding, you don't have ABS.

ABS sucks in the snow.

My 2¢
