My Max doesn't have sun roof, keyless entery, nothing. Does anybody have less options then that?

Hey Andrei - I have the same exact car. No keyless, sunroof or convenience package. What color is yours? I have a 98 Black/Black SE. I actually put in a new windshield wiper stalk with the variable intermittent speeds, because it didn't even come with that! At least they came with the decent 6 speaker audio system...

I thought I was in the same boat...but I have the SE-Limited package for my '99. No sunroof, no keyless, no alarm (gasp)...Factory Weight Reduction is what I like to call it.

 

Oh, AND - You can't have any less options than that on an SE. Only the GXE comes with less than that. (Like the little tape deck with 4 speakers...)

I have 0 options as well but I've got a GXE. Don't think of your car as a base model think of it as the Lightweight model like the BMW M3 LTW, they only made 120 or so of them. They are very sought after.

Mine is Black on Black as well after I got some leather seats of a 96' Max. I don't even have the lights in the sunvisors, not to mention the Homelink.

I have the same car. I've got a 98 5-speed with no sunroof, keyless, ABS, variable wipers, and the list goes on. When I was going to buy it, I had a choice between this and a 99 SE-L with every availabe option. I'm real gald I went with the stripped 5-speed because the autotragic sucks.

 

I guess I have to join the club. I have a '98 Sterling Mist SE 5 speed with 0 options as well.

 

Thats what I got, new off the lot. A '99 GXE black 5sp(cause there wasn't any black SE 5sp's in any of the 8 closest states!). No keyless(ouch), sunroof, power seats, nothing. No conveniece package, just the standars. luckily I put in custom leather, wood, and tinted it. Personnaly I like the no-spoiler look.

Right now I like the no spoiler look as well since mine got ripped off. I think that it looks pretty good, exept I still got the white clips sticking out. Can't find a black GLE/GXE lid anywhere around me.

I though all SE's come wit keyless entry . Do your gages have a white face and do either of you guys have spoilers?

 

I think SE has something over all trime. is the tune suspention. i'm not sure if i'm right tho.

 

I got the same "base" 1998 SE model, all I have is pretty much the non-bose 100 watt CD player with 6 speakers. I have keyless entry, but the remote is not the same as other maximas, even though I think it was installed by the dealer. I'll post a pic sometime of it.

The best thing is, my dad bought it for around 18 g's brand new, the dealer was having some kind of crazy clearance.

 

i got a base no option 99 se over here too.

right now im waiting for it to warm up to install the intermittant wiper stalk ... yay, another thing for me to fidget with while in the car

 

I got a really good deal on mine as well. I hear some people talking about intermittant wiper stalk, please fill me in on those.

i got a 95 se, with no spoiler and like that lookf or now aswell. Mines got sun roof, abs, no BOSE system though, already blew those cheap paper speakers in rear...LMAO sounds like bees now...lol

 

I ordered my intermittent wiper stalk from Courtesy Nissan (www.courtesyparts.com) for like $50 I think... You just open up the steering column (loosening a couple of screws is all it takes) and replace the old stalk with the new one. Takes all of 15 minutes.

Keyless entry came as part of the convenience package in 97, 98, 99. ALL SE's have white face guages and spoilers standard.

The 4th gen Maxima SE does have the tuned suspension, white guage faces, and a spoiler from what I understand.... they are all factory installed options. If you have an SE, look in the rear window where the 3rd beake light usually is. you will notice that there isnt one. The GLE and GXE models do have a 3rd brake light in the rear window...... I dont know about other options though..... I have a nicely loaded 96 SE with the Bose system, Keyless entry, black paint with black leather interior, Automatic Climate Control, power seats. power windows, and power door locks......Mine is an automatic though.... I kind of wish it were 5 speed manual.....

 

mine isnt loaded with options either. All i have is the Security and Convience package (sunroof, homelink) I dont have bose (didnt want it), dont have leather (definately didnt want it). But i have what appears to be factory tint, power drivers seat, power everything, spoiler...typical stuff

Why dont you want Leather seats? My Maxima is the firs car I have owned with leather seats, and personally I would not have cloth or vinyl seats in any other car I own...... lol........ Its just personal prefrence I guess....

 

I dont care for leather too much. My mom has leather in her car and i dont care for it. Ive sat in a max with leather seats and i didnt care for it either. It get toooo damn hot out here in the summer (florida) and sweating would be a problem. Plus you slide around more in leather and you have to keep up on the care for it not to start cracking. Then when it starts cracking and wearing, it starts looking ghetto. Cloth doesnt do that.

Haha @ this thread. I thought mine was stripped down, but I guess I'm pimpin compared to some people. I have a 98 SE 5 spd with Keyless, Sunroof, variable wipers....no leather, no bose, no climate control. I really wish I had the leather and climate control. The Bose I could give a **** about...head and sub installed, speakers aer next. I could have gotten custom leather for a g note from the dealer but my dad convinced me not to at the time. Now my mom got a loaded 02 GLE and he's like, "Yea the leather seats are nice, I wish got them in my new truck"

 

be cuz I was that I couldn't find a loaded 5 speed and I had no other choice as to buy my stripped 98 SE 5 speed. I guess it's not all that bad cuz now I got both power and heated leather, f*ck bose, I got Alpine IVA C800 with 2 MTX 15', Viper 550 with automatic start. I got HomeLink visorsk, so all I need is a sunroof from the convinience package. I am very grad that I don't have climate control, because it would be a paine in the azz controlling it cuz of my Alpine monitor. What else am I missing?

Before this thread I thought I was in an exclusive club. My Super Black 98 SE 5 speed has zero options. White face gauges, spoiler and fog lights are the only things I got from the factory. We are kind of lucky. Bose makes upgrading a pain and sunroof is worthless if you live where the Sun beats down (I live in FL). The only thing I want is the climate control.

 

Welcome to the club. It seems that we have most of 98's comming sptripped.

I'll take your sunroof..it is one of the two things that I wish came with my car. Second being my car is an automatic..now I would have taken a 5 speed, but at the time I was commuting through and around Boston traffic, and didn't want a 5 speed anymore.

It was one of the first things i did to my car because it's cheap and easy. Besides, when you'e got that PITA misty rain or light snow it comes in handy.

As far as leather goes: It really didn't matter to me if i had leather or not. It's nice, and can be really comfortable, but it's freezing in the winter and hot in the summer. Plus it's a b1tch to clean, and if i wanted to use the backseat, i'd have to worry about stains more.......

 

I had zero options on my '99 but put in Katzkin leather cause it 1. Increase the resale value of the car, 2. It's extremely comfortable and feels nice to sit in, and 3. because it is WAY easier to clean than cloth. No stains(getting a stain completely out of cloth is next to impossible), repels water(stain doesn't penetrate into the seat, just stays on the surface of the leather), and smells awesome. This of course is all personel choice.
