yeah, don't do it. I was toying with the idea a year and a 1/2 ago, and yes, it does effect the structural integrity of the vehicle. I was not looking to do so for audio equipt..but rather having a fold down rear seat.

Just work carefully- you don't want to screw up the deck lid
If you're talking about the metal piece behind the back seat, I took mine out completely...my amp rack is mounted there. Haven't noticed any problems...can't imagine it affecting the structural integrity of the car. It's not that thick/big.
i took out that metal (heatsheild?) behind the rear seats to push my sub box further back so i could have more room in the trunk, didn't notice any changes.
Watchout though, the edges are sharp and WILL cut you...

Well today I took the seat out and just unbolted the metal piece. I think thats going to be enough for now. I'll have to see when the second 15 gets here. Thanks again guys.

I may be wrong, but isnt the structural integrity affect by cutting it out? If for instance you are involved in a wreck (God forbid it), from that angle and that part of the body of the vehicle is pretty much insecure due to lack of a "frame" or connecting bar between both sides of the rear, apart from the deck, arent the chances that that might lead to something even worse or increment the damages exponentially, pretty high? I ask this because while I was dynamatting my car yesterday (i have a 91se) I noticed there was a connecting bar across the hole. I might just be imagining this, but I feel if the car makers didnt feel the need to have it there, they wouldnt have put it there, and it would have been even cheaper for then to have made the car...my thoughts.
TWO 15's?!
What kind of wattage do you have going to them? Thats a lot of air to be pushing in a car.
