I drove my friends 2001 MR2 Spyder and I mean that thing handles like nothing...I took corners without even trying...Yeah I know it doesn't have the power our cars have but man I love the way it handles. The car feels stable and there was extremely any body roll at all.

Put the Maxima on diet, spend lots of money on shocks and springs, wide tires & wheels.

Sure, convert the max to RWD, take the back seats out and stick engine there and then proceed to rip about 500lbs of the car somehow.

The MR2 is not slow. It has only moderate power, but is so light that it is pretty quick. 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, which is as fast as ANY stock Maxima except the 2K2-4 6-speeds.

It only has 138hp and 125tq, how is it fast? Granted it only weighs 2195lbs but still.

My buddy just bought a 2k spyder and that car is nutz (for what it is) He has a Bee Racing exhaust and a trd intake on it, and he was only about 2 car lenghts behind me on the bottle. ( i run a 100 shot) I was extremely impressed with him he had me by 1 1/2 car lenghts when i was off the bottle. Although the car is useless at least the old mr2's had storage space behind the motor this new one has none at all aside from the front which can hardly hold a overhight bag and the storage behind the seats which is ok. But it isn't a very practical car at all.... I like it. Brian

my buddy used to have a 2k1 spider and it was definitely quicker than you would think for how much power it has. look at the lotus elise....118hp and like 1700lbs and the thing does 0-60 in 5.6sec. http://members.fortunecity.com/carst...ise%201999.htm

Power to ratios is what makes car fast. Don't get caught up in the "it only has this much power".

An MR2 Spyder, while only having 138hp, weighs 2200lbs has RWD and is mid-engined. This means the car is a rocket from a stand still. A stock MR2 will pull a 0-40mph time quicker than probably any modified Maxima in this Org (high 1.8 60 foots are not uncommon).

Well, from 45-100, I DESTROYED it stock. Not sure if he was 00, 01, or 02...but it was sad...he pulled over and said, "What do you have in there?" -- "stock!"...heh

What is our weight distribution? There are still front engine mounted cars with close to 50/50 weight distribution....

Forget the MR2s...

My Fieros make the MKIII MR2 (and all previous) seem like they handle as well as cinderblocks with wheels.

Gotta love suspension designed by Lotus... the mid-engine sitting right in front of the rear axle... 2300lbs with the N*, 2450 with the SBC.

The MK3 MR2 is FUGLY. I like the MKII though. It has potential... just not enough for me
