New Cat

Ok I am buying a maxima tommorow!!! the car just took a trip to the mechanic and he said it will need a new cat and arack and pinnion (rack and pinion will go out not soon but eventually) i am planning on getting a new exhaust and y pipe, what would be the best financial and performance route for me to take?

If you need a new cat now...You might as well go for the Cattman Hi-flow cat. I think it's about 150. Since you're going to get the y-pipe and all, you might as well get a performance cat to go with it.

Are the carsound cats considered a high performance unit? They have them for 100 dollars at a local muffler shop.

Kevin.
I've had mine for about 6 mos. and recently I heard this ugly metal cling-clang noise coming from somewhere in the exhaust. At first I though it was a hanger or heatshield or something, but I got under it, and sure enough, Mr. RT Cat has decided to let its insides go loose.

pinky... can I join the club?

Has anyone tried that $60.00 test pipe on e-bay? BTW I've had my R/T cat for over a year with no probs. I just think I paid too much for it, $180.

The CAT is a minor issue. I have the RT cat, most people, myself included, noticed no difference.

Now, the power steering rack, that's gonna be major labor. I would avoid the car if I were you.
