ECU code 0303, 0304: Front o2 sensor and knock sensor

How bad is this? :/

Cost wise, and performance wise?

I just noticed TODAY! that my check engine light... was NEVER there!
It's been like this since i bought the car a year and a half ago... So I took the light for the abs, and put it in the check engine light spot for now. I have no idea how long both sensors died out on me Nor do i have a clue how it'll affect my performance, or my engine...

Must donate soon.... must have search feature!!

anyone can hit me up with search results, or answers to the 2 questions?

Thanks.

Clear the codes from you ECU and see if they come back again.

Change the O2 sensor first, clear the codes again and your knock sensor code should go away.

Well, I had many problems with teh knock sensor, but it could only be your o2 sensor which is tripping the knock sensor code, because usually the knock sensor doesnt throw a code (ghost code). Is your maxima performing sluggish? Does it hesitate? Or jerk? How about ping or knock? (Which is what teh knock sensor does to teh engine when it feels somethign is wrong).Definetely change the o2 sensor first, if and when you change it, you should be fine, if not, look into a new knock sensor. O2 sensors run about $50 more or less, knock sensor are $190ish from the delaer, if you look around you can get cheaper though. Hope this helped.

Mine has been jerking after 3500 RPM at WOT. IS this an O2 sensor? I don't get any codes from the ECU. Could this be a knock or O2 sensor?

Could be a knock sensor, which o2 sensor do you think is giving you problems? I dotn think o2 sensors have any affect on teh engine performance, just maybe gas mileage. It deos exactly what it says, its a sensor for the amount of o2 in your pipes and stuff, I guess lol. Anyways, my knock sensor gives me hesitation and pinging and jerking, but thats only at idle and stuff. I cant really feel it when I drive, but I do notice the loss of power. If it is your knock sensor, which wont throw a code, that hesitation is just your timing getting retarded, thats what teh knock sensor does when it gets soem weird vibrations that it doesnt recognize, because rather then hurt your engine, it changes your timing to prevent future damage. Did you check your ecu? if you are 05 05 then you should be fine. Maybe a ignition coil or bad spark plug.

I've also discovered there is an 02 sensor fuse in the interior fuse box. When I had my front 02 sensor fried the fuse was blown. You might want to also check the fuse.

My car only misses like this if I'm actually driving. I can sit in the car and rev it past 3500 and no missing or pop sounds. Any other ideas?

Similarly, I first got the CEL and it was throwin 0304 AND 0303
Right after ypipe install. The front left o2 sensor was giving me a resistance of 4.8ohms. The Chilton's Manual gives a range of 2.3-4.3.
But now I'm ONLY getting 0304 for the knock sensor. Shouldn't it be
getting both still, since the o2 sensor is still bad.

i do get some hestitation... more than i'm used to actually...

BUT could that be caused becuase of the o2 sensor, which triggers the knock sensor... and in turn the ECU lowers the performance...
thus if i fixed the o2 sensor, reset the ecu, everything would be back to normal?

I do have a y-pipe, so maybe during the installation, like LAST summer, it got damaged or something... Will try cleaning it...

thanks
