Waxing the max

what kind of wax do you guys use and how long does it usually take? What about car washes, don't they have a waxing option, does that work well?

If you never take care of your car you need use at least a 4 step process to clean and protect your paint.

(1) Clay - Lift up grime and dirt off of a paint.

(2) Cleaner - Takes off old wax and polish

(3) Polish - Give the paint some shine

(4) Wax - Protect that nice polish job you just did.

This will probably take at least half a day to do.

Do not use one of those car washes with the wax in them. if you don't dry the car fast enough the wax will leave a lot of streaks. Best car wash I found was Armour All car wash. Do clay your car a few times a year. For waxing, I like to use Pro Wax (www.prowax.com) Satin Cream. It's a sealer/wax that leaves an awesome shine. To do all that to my max takes a good 2+ hours.

I can detail the exterior in 2 hours (this includes cleaning paint then applying Meguiars Medallion Paint Protection) using Porter Cable Variable Speed Dual Action Orbital Buffer. Lowes has a good price on them. Treating tires, vinyl, rubber and rims. I'm so used to spending a weekend detailing I feel "guilty" that it is easy and looks great.

Did you use all their products to get our results? I added up the cost of what I thought I would need and it would run about $70. Thats for z2, z5, z6, and zfx plus S&H. Are the results worth $70?
