symptoms of a bad.............

Can some one explain to me, what are symptoms of a bad knock sensor? I read some stuff on it. But I want to double check. Thanks In advance.

a very bad gas mileage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! before i remplaced my KS my mileage was like 15 or 16mpg/city...after that and cleaned my O2 sensors...i got 23-24 mpg/city.

and i feel more ponys.
