Paint taking a beating

Paint taking a beating
I've got a 95 SE 5sp. I got it in Oct and so far it's been
great. But, the paint seems to be easily pitted by fine sand and stuff kicked up from other cars and especially trucks The Accords I've had previously that I've driven for years in the same way to the same work etc. did not have the extent of pitting that the Max is taking. The Max is Black Emerald and the undercoat is very light, like a dull white so every little pit shows up. There's probably a hundred little pits by now. Unfortunately, the sand on the road is a fact of life here (Vancouver) It's not like I hang close to trucks kickin up a sand storm, it just seems the paint is too brittle or something. I guess I could get a bra but the stuff rubbing under it would probably be worse. Anyway, anyone else find the original paint to be weak in this regard?

Nissan paint on the Maximas is not very robust.
I repainted my whole car (its a 1995) in 2000. Now that its 2003, the car is about half as bad again as it was right before I repainted it. The clear coating is probably not all that hard.
