If you're interested, there's a junk yard in Massachusetts that has a 95 engine with 12k miles on it. Let me know.

Wow! That's a hell of a deal! I got mine, a 98 with 43k for 550, and I thought that was a deal.

too late Bish, I've already got it on the way, BUT, for everyone out there that does need an engine, the name is:
General Auto Recyclers
800-556-7316

They have quite a few in stock, most of them from 98's, and as far as I know, they are all $250......

Wow. These motors are dirt cheap...
The motor with 40k for $250, what all items did it come with, or was
it just the motor?

http://www.robertsonautosalvage.com/. They have it listed for $600, but I'm sure you can get it down to $500.

It's suposed to be a complete motor, minus Bolt ons such as water pump , alternator, power steering pump. Includes intake and the usual stuff.....

WhiteMax;

When I called them they just had the one with 41K available.
I figured you had already gotten the one with 28K.

I have hesitated to buy a second motor because I am not sure of the differences between different years of motors. (Not to mention that my current engine is still pretty good, and I was going to buy an extra one for a later swap)Does anyone know what is different if I want to put a 98 motor in a 96 Max?

I wanted to pick a later year motor to get lower mileage on it.

That motor with 12,000 miles sounds pretty good, but not until I know what all of the ramifications are with the engine swap.

They told me no electrical. They sent me pictures of the one with 41K, but I wasn't sure if it had coil packs or not. I don't think it had the fuel rails or the fuel injectors on it though.

That's why it's so cheap. Mine came with everything electrical.

That's It! That's It!

Actually, I was thinking about an all-wheel drive twin turbo setup of some kind with cryogenic superconductive photon plasma drives and pseudo mind warp worm hole time shift bladders all superimposed on a Jenna Jameson ultraviolent 5G 3D hologram!

I can't believe you're not going to include a Flux Capacitor. Everyone knows that you can't build a car without something that can contain 1.21-gigawatt of power.

You are sooooooooooo right.

I hate myself, I hate myself.

Lushka16, Do you think the ECU in the 96 will deal with the 98 engine swap?

Anybody know how I could gather the info on a 98 engine swap into a 96 Maxima (automatic by the way).

TIA,

Hey SleeperSE;

Maybe I could find a nice supercharger in a wrecked Maxima at the junkyard?

I had a 98 put into a 95. The ECU wasn't changed. Your old engine is probably ODB2, so the mechanic shouldn't need to do any swapping. Oddly enough, my old intake was put onto my new engine. I don't know why they did that, but I suspect it was because my old engine was ODB1. You can ask me questions about the swap, since I had it done 2 weeks ago
