wrecked my max yesterday

some punk kid in a 99 eclipse gst pulled out onto the busiest road in knoxville and i plowed into his side...

he was pulling out of some tint shop and didnt even look, moron, its 5:30, rush hour,, my god,, anywys, his car is jacked, his door doesnt close anymore,, he ripped my hub (stock i know, im still looking for wheels to buy) and dented it big time, it scrapes when i ,make a sharp left turn bad... i liked under the hood and didnt see any damage,

what are some steps i need to take to insure nothing severe was damaged, i drove it to work this morning... and it rides ok, but it feels like the right side is "floating" a bit... doesnt ride normal..

i was going 30 he was pulling out..

welp here are the pics

http://home.usit.net/~johntom/images/small/

it was his fault, he got the ticket, now i just have to wait on allstate to pay to get my car fixed,,

hmm wonder if i can get some hid's out of this deal =P

my clear corners are cracked =(

Guys relax show some symphaty for this guy, maybe to some it might not be a big deal, but to the others who pretty much recently just got their cars it is a big deal. **** a big deal to me is a friggin' scratch lol but honestly it is to me! And God forbid something like that happened to me I'd be PIST, I probably would cry too , so I don't blame you bro I know it hurts it'd hurt me too , but even once you get it fixed you'll still never forget that panel sustained damage. But luckily it isn't major as most of the people here said. But DAMN did you see that Eclipse your car suffered 1,000% less damage than his did!!!

wow, thats not too bad, but trust me i know how you feel, my last car was totalled and it sucked. I get angry every time i see a scratch or someone even coming close to my car. Looks fine and mostly outer damamger. His car looks worse and to top it off, its ugly, and the "bent" muffler is gay as are his altezzas. Hes paying for this i presume?!

Nice kill . . .

But seriously, as long as you dont have to pay anything - dont worry about it too much, it will come back, and you should be able to drive a cool beater rental around while its in the shop if his insurance will pay for that too. Make the best outta the situation.

i really feel your pain!

before i got my max i had an 89 olds delta 88. i loved that car. this blind f#ck on a 85 audi ran a stop sign (there was one on each side of the intersection with a white line and STOP written in big white letters) into my passenger side at about 50 miles per hour, his car was gone the whole front end and the engine got pushed back into the firewall.

when i saw my olds i cried and i still drove it afterwards.

Now that i got my "precious" maxima, i drive very carefully and if that would happen to me, i'd get out of the car and kill the SOB with my own hands right on the spot.

but at least the damage is not that bad, and it drives well. so you should be happy about that. try to think of how good you'll feel when you're driving it once it is restored to good shape.

no one hurt, good.

as long as everyone is alive and sound, it's good.

I don't know about many kids in this .org, but life is precious. car, any car, even ferrari, isn't worth it. I believe you used your ABS, so that's why your massive frontal "hull" didn't kill that poor eclipse driver and crush his vulnerable "broadside."

And lucky that you only broke your right fender and the eclipse guy only has to replace his door. If the eclipse body was damaged any more than that, the insurance company will junk the car b/c the $$ will be around $8000. and some mechanic guy will buy it for $300 in insurance auction, rebuild it, and sell it off for $5000.

I just had accident 2 weeks ago. and from seeing the damage on your max and eclipse, it's not as bad as you think.

Some body shops will try to rip insurance company or you off, but others will do quality work for decent $$.

I've been to 9 body shops and 6 of them right away tried to rip me off. Beware. most of those places with nice receptionist, comfy chair, free coffee, etc are the biggest rip offs.

on ebay there's this guy who sells 97-99 fenders for $100 + $50 shipping. I need the driver side, you need the passenger...I live in ATL.

You want to buy those fenders and split?
sorry about being long, but thank God you guys are alright!

Your biggest issue willbe finding a shop to match your paint exactly. Ask around, a lot. Colors like yours can be hard to match to the rest of the car.

My X pulled out on someone just like that guy did to you. It was a 60 year old woman. The lady sued, and claimed the accident caused her to lose 20% of her hearing. Show me a 60 year old person that hasn't, natually. The granny won, because it was not worth court costs for the insurance company to fight the case, and they raised out insurance. My X was a terrible driver. Scared the crap out of me, especially when she would fall asleep at the wheel when I was napping on long trips.
Then I bought her a SHO. She was beyond scary in that car. She eneded up t-boning It a few months after we split. HAH!

Could be worse...

I was in a wreck a few months back, guy failed to stop at a stop sign and hit my right front fender as well...problem was he was in like this 1985 Dodge Ram Charger with those metal guards on the front and a huge winch in the middle. It totally ripped my fender off and he had to pull it off of the front of his car. His car wasn't scratched at all really, but my fender was gone, door was dented a little bit and some of the frame had to be replaced, all bolt on stuff fortunately. The bill ended up being $4200 which his insurance had to pay for. It was Allstate as well, they will pay for a rental but they take FOREVER to do anything. It took a month for my car to even get approved to be fixed by Allstate and another month in the shop because of their stupid people. Hopefully that is just the people here in CA and not where you're at and you will get your car back faster. The guys here did an excellent job on matching and blending the paint though, you can't even tell they did any blends...none of this Maaco crap jobs.

Glad you weren't hurt and your Max will be just fine. Doesn't look like there will be much internal damage. I'd make sure they give you a new bumper and fender and replace the clear corners and also make sure they check your headlights as the back may be cracked or they may need to be reaimed. Anyway, any good service place will take care of all that, and the Allstate appraiser that I went to did a good job.

wow, that looks alot like my car did when i woke up at 5 am in atlanta, and my car alarm was going off ...i go outside and i found my car looking much like your max. a couple of small time wanna be stereo thieves wrecked their way into my car. not kidding ...jacked my kenwood dpx-410 headunit ..man i miss that unit ..anyways my insurance paid for everything ...im guessing that if someone does break into your car you hope and pray they are pros ..if not, they will rip your car up big time.... hey, i might put a note in my car ...well in case someone is stealing around in it. Dear Thug, if you are in my car stealing, please take your time, and dont trash my dash ... ! something like dat .. on a more serious note, glad your okay ... i tripped on the eclipse ,, nasty door damage ! Hey when you get your check if there is anything left over spend it at tirerack
