Spark Plugs

I have only done them in my 4 cyl Saturn a while ago. It is time for my Max to get new spark plugs and oil change etc... Are the spark plugs hard to put in on the Max SE?

What tools will I need?

probably not coppers.. probably those fancy less performing platinum or iridium plugs.. go coppers.. the only downside is they only last 30k..

but if you find changing the plugs easy.. you won't mind the fact that you can buy 6 plugs for the price of half of 1 of the other.. and they perform better..

True, just depends on how often you want to change them. Hell if I had known that coppers work as well as Platinums I would have put in coppers. I find it rather easy to change them out. Plus I have that cool feeling that I did something good for my car. Well I'm set for couple of years with the Plats now.

i just called Nissan for copper price. 4.57 each. not bad, but then he told me wait, what year.. I said "99 Max" he said.. oh, you have to have platinums. He said they will not work without.. but seeing how some of you have coppers.. I dont get it.. obviously they are trying to get better $$$ out of me. arg! I am just going to go there and buy the coppers with the part #, this way I dont have to be forced to buy the plats with them.

If I get screwed up while installed them, anyone in the Fairfield county, CT, able to help out? lol

Say, are the NGK Platinums I got from O'Rielly the exact same as the ones the dealer sells? The ones at O'Orielly says "Laser Platinum" on the package. What are the coppers? If they are the say, why pay for that dealer markup, just go to an auto shop.

What is the part # for the coppers?

The dealer refused to sell me the coppers when I told what year car I have. I spoke to the manager, and he said the same thing. I told them I'd call the BBB and report them. Damn rednecks.

Where can I order these? Courtsey doesn't have them listed for the Max. Only the plats.

according to sprint max post on how to install the plugs, the part # is 22401-50Y05 Those are zero's.. not the letter O. I chickened out on installing them. I am not auto savvy nor do I have tools to put them in... (dont flame me ) Pepboys is going to do them for 60.00 but they would not tell me how long it would take. I just hope I am not stuck here for two hours!!!! with nothing to do.

I put Bosch Platinum 1's,2's and 4's in my 98 SE and all I got was misfires and slightly rougher idles. I didn't think much of it because in the beginning I was paying much attention to it. A guy at Advance Auto told me that NGK PLatinums are he only way to go for the Maximas. After finding out the price ($9.86 apiece) I still did not get them. That's when I got more Bosch for it and enough was enough. I did a search on the net and that's how I found this site. I brokedown and spent the $60+ dollars for the NGK's. Installed them in no time at all and she's been purring like a kitten every since. So if it a Max, get the NGK's, the Bosch +4's will not magically give you all this horsepower..it's the placebo effect more then anything else. I put NGK coppers in my lady friend Mazda 626 and they are dirt cheap and they worked well in her car.

Can someone actually give a technical answer to this question other than Maximas like NGK?! There must be a reason, what is it about NGK plugs that are different than any other plug out there?

Is anyone else using coppers? Sprint Max is using nitrous and its probably good that he uses coppers, but what good is it for a N/A engine. I also notice the coppers are V-power, is that why they have a "better spark" (quoted from sprint max's site). I just don't want to do something to my car just cause one or two people say it works but dealer ships and manuals say another. Not discounting anything anyone says but I'd like some more input.
