Is there a special way to clean tint?

I am getting 20% tint all around on Friday and I need to know what I should use to clean the tint. Is Windex safe for it or should I try to just use water?

When I had my sisters car tinted the guy said windex was not safe. I just use a damp towel to clean the window followed by dry towel and that works pretty well. Ive heard Pledge works well also...but never tried it myself.

try using vinegar and water 50 50 mix it works alot better than just water, plus it won't eat away at the tint.

Don't use anything with ammonia (e.g. Windex) unless you like purple tint...

A little soap and water should be OK but I would just buy a bottle of Tint Cleaner from a tint shop (Silicon based).

most window cleaners you buy at a car parts store are fine. look for them to say tint safe. this means that they dont have ammonia, thats what screws up tint. windex obviously has ammonia.

As people mentioned glass cleaners will usually market themselves as tint safe if they don't have ammonia. I like Invisible Glass, so that's what I always use.

No ammonia. I use The Wax Shop Super Glaze car wax everywhere except the outside of the windshield. Crystal clear and if it gets smudged, like by my dog, a quick buff with a clean towel and you are back in business.

I only need to do it twice a year. I have been doing it on my last five cars with no problems with the tint.

I use the WIndex Vinegar formula. No ammonia, and it works really well w/o streaking or turning the tint purple.

most tint shops in my area sell window cleaner there so you know what's safe to use. call around town and ask what kind they sell because walmart or miejer has the same stuff probably cheaper.
