'96 Max shakes at 60 mph onwards
Hi,
I've had this problem for several years and have lived with it. I had to purchase a set of tires recently and thought that I should address this question to the group for some input.
My '96 Max (GXE) has had a car shake at speed (60 mph+) that is felt in the seat of my pants. My thought is that it is coming from the back of the car. Dealer checks showed nothing unusual. Each year I have to replace the rear tires due to uneven wear, so I now purchase bargan price tires. I have addressed the problem as follows:
1. Rotate wheels
2. Replace tires (different manufacturers)
3. checked the stock rims (run out, dents, etc.)
4. Replaced the lug nuts (OEM)
5. Replace the rear shocks
6. Verify alignment (4 wheel - at different shops)
Am desperate and will try balancing my new tires (in April at $70/ea)using the "road force' method, but suspect that this too will yield no clues.
Any suggestions?
