Hey, I noticed lastnight when I went to pull up on a stop light, when I pressed the brake nearly all the way down, I'm feeling a "clicking" type thing on the pedal...It's not the shift lock...when you lightly step on the brake, you hear the first click, thats the shift lock releasing the shifter....if you keep pressing down on the brake and you reach almost to the bottom, then I feel this other click....does anyone have any idea what it could be??

thanks,
Mike

PS: trying to find out here first before I take it to a mechanic and they jack me up for things i dont need..

Are you sure its in the pedal? Or is some noise being transmitted through the pedal to you? If it's the pedal, I would get down there and look for obstructions underneath - maybe something got jammed up there. If not, maybe you have a seal falling apart inside the master cylinder or a brake pad hanging up. Could also be an air bubble, have you had the brakes off lately? Or did you let the fluid level in the resevoir go down to nothing and then refill it?

Do you have ABS and if you do any problems with the system? Also does it feel like the brake pedal "fights against you" when you hit them? Those answers could help out.

Does it seem like you have to press the pedal harder to get the car to stop? If so maybe your power booster is going bad or the vacuum line to it is blocked/obstructed. Check your reservoir for low fluid. If it gets too low you will start introducing air in the system possibly causing this.
