how much is a 5 speed trans

how much is a 5 speed trans

I am in VA and I can get a 99 5 speed trans for my 96
for $1150. It a a non locking and it has 13,000 miles on it
Is it a good price, fair price, ripe off.

um, PM marcdown, but i think he found one a while back in Wilmington, NC for like $650 w/ 30k on it. i'd look around some more before dropping that much. i'm certain you can get one for less than $1150.

That's not too great when you can get a rebuilt tranny (essentially with all new internals) with a warranty for under $800. There's a seller on Ebay (forgot name - do a search on Ebay) that seems to be a large rebuilder of trannies (they claim to sell 1,000's every year).

yeah, a rebuilt one could be the way to go, but let me warn you to be careful. i work at a dealership and from what i've seen/heard, rebuilds are often iffy. if you do decide to go with a rebuild... check, double check, then triple check about the warranty.

Dont pay more than 400 - 600 for a tranny. Also hit me up when you get that ECU.
