No power until 3k

I have noticed latley that my 98 SE auto has very little power from idle to around 3k rpm, after 3k it pulls hard. Just gave it a tune-up last month and adj. the throttle cable. Only code I have is for rear o2. It only started to bother me when I was on a trip a couple of months ago with a rented 02' ford tauras V6 automatic that I swear would eat my maxima for lunch only because of the off-the-line performance. Any ideas? This is starting to drive me nuts.

From 3K on your Maxima will eat the Taurus.

Clean your throttle body - www.motorvate.ca that gives back some throttle response.

I don't think the rear o2 will effect performance.

What kind of plugs did you use when you tuned it up?

You could have a defective or over active knock sensor which is holding back your ignition timing.

I had very similar symptoms until I changed the knock sensor. There was an immediate partial improvement and then more improvement in the low end over a few tanks of gas.

Chris, did you get the computer code for the knock sensor or anything else?
