Intermitent High Idle on '95 Maxima
#1
Anyone know what the possible cause for an intermitent high idle (exactly 1500 RPM when idling high)problem? This is without the AC running.
When the car is first driven in the morning it seems to be fine, but after it has run a little and I come to a stop light, it often will idle at 1500 RPM. Out of curiosity, I have let it sit idling that high, and it will eventually drop down to the normal range (about 600-700 RPM) within about 3-5 mins. I don't know if it will drop down to normal range everytime though, I only tried waiting a couple times.
I thought maybe the accelorator cable was having a problem, but going to the throttle body shows it is returning to the idle position.
I would appreciate any ideas anyone has. I just have my fingers crossed hoping this is not a mass air flow sensor thing as I have heard these run like $700.
Thanks,
Gavin

Well, here are some ideas
Could be your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), however the signs of this is usually a idle that bounces up and down. It might be that your butterfly vavle in your Throttle Body is sticking. You might want to try cleaning that and see if that helps your problem. Just some thoughts.....
