some things:

if the gas pressure isn't right the compressor won't start
if the gas is of the wrong type it will also cause problems.
if the compressor clutch is broke it wont engage the compressor
it could be one of 10s of other things.

you really want to bring it to a good AC place and perhaps an electrician.

your heater will work because its a different system.

I just want to know how you guys solve the prolem.
i changed the compressor.

AC is complicated, you will need to look at each component of your ac system to check for leaks. If you recharged it correctly and there are no leaks, the piping should be cold (ie, the tubing from the condenser outlet to the evap. To check for leaks, typically a shop will run a diagnostic by using a type of dye (visible to black light) in the freon when they recharge your ac. Then they run the AC and use the black light to check for yellow spots (where leaks may be occuring).

You may have problems with the following components:
Condenser (fins may be damaged, dented or clogged)
Evaporator (may be clogged)
Hose fittings (may be worn, cracking or developing bubbles)
Tap valve (look like a valve stem) by the left hand side charging pipe.
Compressor
Receiver/drier

I went through this ordeal last summer.. turned out I had leaking condenser and bad tap valve. I also had my receiver drier replaced too. Good luck.

I wouldnt even dare let pepboys touch anything. maybe its just in my area but they make things worse. anyways, does the compressor turn on? if so then chances are that theres a leak somewhere. Have a shop hook up some guages and see what the high-low side pressures are and see if it will hold pressure before you have them recharge the system so you dont waste money by having it leak out again

Im sure my compressor turns on. Im currently taking auto classes in a Community college and the teacher is my loca pepboy Dispacher. So im pretty sure things won't get worse.

I think it might be a leakage too but aye... I don't know just have to let them check it out...Man there goes my $$$ for some stinkie mechanic who always over charge.

by any chance, is there any way a plug behind my dash could cause the problem? because last time when my AC work is before i took out my headunit after it casue warm air. But then again.... i plug all the wires back to the A/C. *there is only 2 extra wire next to the OEM plug for the headunit is not plug. And i can't find any where to plug it to.*

Does any one have a pix behind the dash? if anyone does please don't be lazy please post
thanks!

no problem.. I went through 3 shops to get it checked out. Expensive lessons, just trying to help out.

Best thing to do is go to a shop that SPECIALIZES in auto AC. I wouldn't trust those Pepboys people b/c they only go thru 'standard procedure'. With that being said, there's a good chance they'll overlook things that 'experienced' ac mechanics will notice. Email me if you have time.

hummm, I know in our ac class we work on live customer cars so maybe see if they can do that for you. labor is free as long as you pay for parts needed.

yeah we work on real cars too but then we don't get to use different type of special tools since is a intro class. Our school is getting a budget cut so everything is stric. Can't use this can't touch that blah blah blah...
