is 44 offset too much for 18 inch rims?
i am getting the 18in 3 pc 5zigen heidfelds..i hear that 35 was the best offset...however the guy said that the ones that they have in stock right now in the US are 44 offset otherwise he would have to order it from japan which will take 6-8 weeks...he also said that he had a friend try it on a max and said it fit fine...whatcha guys think i should do..take the 44 offset or wait 6-8 weeks for the 35s?
thanx

Hmm.... don't think there's enuf room
on the inside to use the 44mm offset... I don't remember having much space between the tires/rim and the spring assembly... I guess it'll depend on the rim width and the tire size you use... It may rub when you turn the wheels fully too... I think 40mm is the max i would try but if the dealer said (promises.. in writing) it fits then great... it'll tuck in nicely... good luck

I don't think they will fit-->
First, the Heidfield has a lip. You will need as much room as you can get to clear the brakes, spring..etc. That's why 35mm is good. A rim with no lip can get away with 40mm. 44mm with a lip..I don't see how it will fit. I'm assuming it's 18X8.

I can answer your question.

One more thing, with 18x7.5" rims, the widest tire that ALL tire manufacturers say that you should use is 225/40/18. I'm using that right now and it looks fine. Some people say you can fit 235/40/18...it may look fine, but technically, the tire beads won't fit properly.

Mine are 18 x 7.5 and I have 225/40/18. It looks better because the tire doesn't hang over the rim. Just becarful around curbs.

My rims are 18x7.5"(+45mm). When I first put them on my car, I had no problems with fitment, brake clearance, etc., however the rims looked really tucked in. Well, the fronts were passable, but the rear looked horrible. The rear wheels were tucked in way too much. That's why I got H&R Trak spacers. 15mm for the front & 20mm for the back. Given the "ideal" setup of 18x8.0"(+35mm) as the standard, my setup now translates to the outer edge of the rim being a few mm tucked in in the front & being a few mm pushed out in the rear. Now it looks really nice, IMHO. =)
