ATF Selection

Here's a question to all you automatic guys.

i'm going to be replacing the ATF and the power steering fluid as well, but i haven't found a very good brand of ATF.

I hear Royal Purple makes a good ATF and so does Amsoil and Mobil 1. But i haven't heard anything concrete yet.

i'm hoping you guys can clarify or recommend the best product.

What brands do you use and how have they been performing?

I already checked out "the spreadsheet" but it mainly covers motor oil.

thanks

I'll be changing the atf on our maxima soon. Atfter reading posts here on the forum, I've decided to go with Mobil 1. I plan on using the method were one lets the transmission pump out several quarts and then you refill. This way I should get a complete flush.

I used Pennzoil synthetic blend dexron-III mercon and have had no probs. Although it has only been in for about 2k miles.

I didn't know which one to use either.

I just use the regular ole' Dextron III. I drain the 4-5 quarts that will come out of the pan every 6k miles, and it stays perfectly clean and unburnt. It only costs around $6-$10, and I do it when changing the oil. No Problem.

Good Luck!

Obviously I'm partial to Amsoil. Having said that, everyone that I know of who has used Amsoil's ATF has had a positive experience with it.
