Help! I can't get my key out of the ignition!!!

Help! I can't get my key out of the ignition! It's kind of like the car isn't all the way in park. Sometimes it won't start in park, either, and I have to drop it into neutral. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do to fix it?

By the way, it's a 95 Maxima SE

Re: Help! I can't get my key out of the ignition!!!

Well, I'm sure that someone can tell you a better way but, it does sound like its not going in park correctly. If it really does not want to go, you may want to look at the shifter linkage. If you pry up the trim that goes around the shifter (its not hard start at the back by the cupholder) you should be able to see the linkage cable. There may be a way to adjust it with a nut or something (tighten or loosen) that may get it to the point where it thinks its all the way in park.

Thats just a guess though. Hopefully someone knows a better way.
