Red Clears on a 96
I heard that they can not be done on a 96 maxima the same way that they can on 97+ models. I would like to do the red/clears on my black max, but i really don't wanna just put some cheap tape on it. Can anyone direct me to a DIY site where i can play around wit me lights. Thanks
-Danny
PS, please don't lock this post, or at least tell me where to go first. (thank you MR. Moderator)

if you want red/clears your gonna have to wait for custommaxima.com to release them. www.nopi.com has them listed on their website, but when people call for them, they say they arent in stock

First clean the lens with rubbing alcohol. Then tape off just the orange part of the lens, using a sharp Xacto knife to trim the masking tape as neatly as possible. Cover as much of the rest of the fender, bumper and trunk area with newspaper as needed to prevent drift.
Use Testor's Translucent Candy Apple Red and spray 2-3 light coats. Apply each coat as lightly as possible, and allow 2-3 hours between coats (depending on ambient temp and humidity) to dry thoroughly. I got in a hurry and got a slight "orange peel" effect as you may notice. (It was too cold, I was stupid.) Finish with a couple layers of gloss clear coat in similar manner to get a nice glossy shine.
The result's not too bad, I like it better than tape...

I understand that you have to change the trunk to change tail lights to 97+ (i'm guessing the inside lights are different). Can you change the outside lights w/o having to change the trunk? Or do they not line up with 96 trunk lights?

That paint thing seems like it would work
But I am a bumble, especially with paint. So, i think i have no choice but to wait for custommaxima to build them for me.
Someone out there should mass produce them, they'd make a fortune! Wish i had the physical and mental resources, because that would be some He!! of a business investment.
