need opinion on strut / spring situation that confronts me -->

I am in a position to get 1998 GLE struts with only 3,500 miles on them. I am looking to put them on a 1995 SE with H&R Sport springs, which are said to lower it by 1.3 inches.

Before I go further, I should say that the 1995 is my sister's car and she has no interest in full performance, rather just wanted to decrease the fender gap.

Is it a good idea to have the H&R springs with the GLE struts? How much different are the SE struts versus the GLE struts?

I guess the only concern that comes to mind is premature wear with stock struts and H&R springs. I think it will be fine, but would like someone who could confirm that with me before I decide to buy.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the H&R's provide the most modest drop, correct?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I believe that the GLE shocks are the softest. It should be OK.

But wait, how much are you paying for the GLE struts? If it's close to 200, you should be able to get some KYB GR2's for about that cost, and they should be a bit better than factory. Unless you're getting a tremendous deal, why go used when you could go new for just a little more?
