Caliper (brake sys.) Rebuild...
... looking for advice or information on rebuilding my 1995 brake calipers. I am also installing SS brake lines. As many readers may already know my MAX was formally my mother-in-laws. It had no brake work done since she purchased it new - the pads still had good material, but I figured at over 100K miles it was at least time for new pads. I found when I had the rear caliper apart that the piston was difficult to turn (with needle nose pliers) and the piston boot would not turn but twist badly when I tried to screw in the piston - is this normal? Will I need special tools to install the front and rear piston boots? What is the best brake fluid to use when doing a full rebuild? Is flushing the system with alcohol needed? Has anyone done the brake master cylinder along with their brake system rebuild? What say the mighty .org advisors? Be Safe, Mark V.
